Need help with rod building materials!

I'm looking for materials for my uncle to replace a spinning rod that was broken this year.

The original blank was a 2 piece graphite made by a now defunct company named Clemens. I doubt I'd be able to replace that blank, but I do need a graphite blank measuring about 5'6" long with a butt diameter of roughly .284".

He prefers a Loomis, but I checked their website and they don't offer anything compatible to his specs. Any ideas?

The handle was a little unorthodox, too. It wasn't the normal pushthrough uplocking type. It was a black plastic 6" fuji speed(pistol)grip. It's a pretty cool setup that I'm also having trouble tracking down on the net. Did a google search and it let me down.

I'd greatly appreciate it if any of the rod builders/suppliers on this site can assist me with this request. I'm kind of hoping to suprise my uncle for Christmas by building this rod for him with similar components. Thanks in advance!

-Joe

Call the folks at Custom Tackle supply. I have had some similar instances and they are great help.

Does anybody know what happened to the Clemens line of blanks? Has another company picked them up?

They closed a couple years ago. As far as I know no one else carries those blanks.

There are so many blanks companies around now you'll have a hard time not finding something suitable. Give Bob (Custom Tackle) or one of the other sponsors a call and let them help you select a good match.

Go to Mud Hole and try their rod search engine. Just a quick (few specs) search came up with a Lamiglass 2 pc with a .3 butt diameter...

For blanks you may consider Batson Forecast
SP660-2 or SP661-2 Here is a link;

Or the Higher Modulas RX7 # IS661-F-M
[www.schneidersrods.com]

Is the handle a Trigger Pistol Grip Casting style?

Thanks for the replies fellas! No the pistol grip doesn't have the trigger. I believe the particular one I'm looking for is just the fuji speed grip. Thanks again!
