Hello all and thanks for all the answers I received from a previous post. Well, I test, test and test the three rods I have 9'9wt, same blank, only the number of guides and spacing changed= gain of time. For the three rods, the removal of one SF ringed snake guide #8 (I put 1 Alconite 20 mm, one 16 mm plus 1 SF alconite #10 and 6 or 7 Alconite #8, tip top is #8) didn t help. I prefer to keep the number of 11 guides (the blank is so stiff that it didn t change the feeling of the rod: I know the action is the same whatever you put on the blank. I have learn that with you guys ;-)) Considering now the collector guide, it did help. I don t think that I am a good caster but I normally cast in the 80-90 feet range without any problems (with an Orvis wonderline bonefish 9wt). With the additional stripper I casted the whole line. So, for me it worked great. Maybe in the future I will need to remove it as I hope I will improve again my casting. But for now, this is more than sufficient to fly fish the Keys every week end. Thanks again guys. Serge Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
