I know that A thread is considered for freshwater rods. D is saltwater. But now I ordered some TRi mar thread which was mentioned in another post to be size C. The catalog did not list a size for the thread so I assumed it was A. Exactly what is size c and can I use it on a light fly rod? thanks john kepka Re: size c thread/

Size C is a fairly large dia thread , 1 size smaller than D . I think it will be a little large for a flyrod . The exact dia , I'm not to sure of , but I have some tri-mar and I don't think I would use it on flyrods . Someone should be able to give you some exact dimentions to give you a better idea . Have fun . JD Re: size c thread/

I don't think that the sizes have to do with fresh or saltwater. I mainly use size A for all my saltwater rods (underwraps, guide wraps and buttwraps) The Trimar that I have is fairly larger than size A. Re: size c thread/

Trimar is fine for fly rod. Use just three turns in front of the guide foot to start and if using SF guides reduce the safety wraps to two to make up for the extra trhead thickness. Looks great with a contrasting trim band. Kenneth Prager Re: size c thread/
