Do the CC ratings for a blank tend to change significantly when the rod is built? I have a rod that I want to CC as a benchmark and am wondering if I can use it to acurately compare to blanks. Any info would be apreciated. Thanks ct Re: CC Ratings - Rods vs. Blanks

The action will remain identical. The power may drop by just a hair due to the weight of the guides. Do a search though as I think it was said to never be more than about .1 or .2. I think that's right. Re: CC Ratings - Rods vs. Blanks

William is exactly right. It is basically a penny or perhaps 2 pennies different, which equates to .15-.30 on the ERN scale. So, yes, it's absolutely possible to compare blanks and rods with the minor adjustment as noted. AA stays the same. Re: CC Ratings - Rods vs. Blanks

By the way, Charles, how you're intending to use the CCS is probably its most useful aspect. Everyone has a rod they know well. And you know what you like and dislike about it. Now, when you find out how that rod measures, you can really make some educated decisions about future rods with that as your benchmark. Factor in some influence of building material and you can really come close in replicating a certain rod or changing things you don't like about the one you have. That's what I use the system for most - making comparisons to benchmark rods I own and know well. Very useful. Re: CC Ratings - Rods vs. Blanks

Steve and William, thanks very much for your responses. I figured that was the case but wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something. I appreciate the information. ct Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
