i plan to refinish a reington RS2 3wt for my father to use on panfish i bought this rod a few years ago and it is pretty dinged up lots of use i don't plan to use it much anymore because i have built a 2 and 4 wt for myself and have been trying to get my dad into fly fishing so my question is is there and easy way to remove the factory label and excess finish from the guides? Hi Sean: Is the factory lable a stick on ? if so use a hair dryer to warm it up with, this should loosen the glue. If it is printed on the blank try denatured alcahol a a gray scuff pad. Then refinish the area with Trondak U-40 Rod Finish, As for the old ridges left by the guide finish, heat with a hair drier and pick off. Also try the search engine and type in refinishing rods there should be some othe great ideas there Good Wraps Bob Re: refinishing a rod
