Winston Rod Blanks

Does anyone know a source for Winston blanks that puts them on sale or sells them for less than retail price?

Have any of you found a blank that you would compare in action and feel to the Winston LT series?

Thanks,

Keith

The Madision River Fishing Company usually has a few Winston blanks on sale or on clearance on their web site. I have ordered from them several times and always happy with the service. Their web home page link is below.

Don't overlook Anglers' Workshop. They also stock and sell Winston blanks.

No shop discounts current production Winston blanks. There are some discontinued series blanks available at sale prices, the XTR and LTX in particular. I haven't cast an LT in years. A friend of mine says he likes a Dan Craft Signature V rod I made as much as his LT, for what that's worth.

As Tom said I think Angler's Workshop had some Winston and some Powell blanks on special in the front of the shop last time I was in.

Thanks for the information everyone. Great place to get informative answers quickly.

I didn't realize that Winston had that policy, but it is their choice and I have no problem with that, was just wondering.

I have never seen a Dan Craft Signature V rod, may have to check those out.

Does any one have any information on the comparison of the LT5 and the LTX? Anyone used both of them? I just made an LT5 4wt and love it, was wanting something similar to it, but maybe a little bit stiffer, not much.

THanks,

Keith

I built a LT 4 and a LT 5. I fish with them almost all the time and love them. But I would not do it again. There seem to be many more choices now than back when the LT's first came out. They were pretty innovative. I did get the first LT cheap. I found a kit on @#$%&. Sold by a company that was going out of busisness and did not give a hoot about Winston's policy. I paid the full tariff for the second. I sorta feel like I paid too much. But Scott and Sage are just as much.

Winston dumped a lot of IBIS blanks on the market for half price or less when they first came out. Winston explained that the color was wrong, but there was not enough margin to justify eating the blanks like they do on their higher priced lines of rods.

I don't think that you are going to find a selection of winston blanks at discounted prices any time soon.
