Hi, if anyone has build a rod on this blank and fished with it I would very much appreciate reading a review of it ? Thanks Peter Re: Dan Craft Sig. V. FT 9' 7 wt

Peter, I have built and cast the FT907-4 (by the way, the FT and Signature V are completely different models). Casts well at 40 to 60 feet with a 7wt WF line and from the power, I would say would easily handle an 8wt line. The rod is extremely fast and seems at least as fast as the XP in a similar model. I would love to tell you how it handles big fish but have not been lucky enough to get to the stream yet! Dan Craft Re: Dan Craft Sig. V. FT 9' 7 wt

Thanks Dan, sorry about the mixup - FT/Sig V - they are on the same page and I didnt read it carefully enough. Do you know the weight of the blank ? Others who have used this rod please ad your comments. I read - here on rodbuilding.org - a review of a FT 3 or 4 weight rod and the reviewer said it would cast just as well in close (very close) as it would long distances and with the same line, so I wondered if the 7 weight would be something like that - a rod to use for both shorter distances in freshwater as well as tossing shooting heads in saltwater. Bob Meiser did a review of both the 10' 7 and 10' 8, which were built as "switcher" rods, for one and two handed casting. Do a search for his comments. Very interesting information, and it pPersuaded me to built the 8 weight in that style for steelhead. Of course, it doesn't take much to persuade me to build another rod.
