Wrap contamination

Last winter I built a Winston BL5 9' 9wt for salmon/steelhead fishing. We transported the rods in a PVC pipe without a cloth protection. I don't think the flex-coat was 100% dryed because I got a transfer of white color from the PVC pipe. Is there a way I can correct this without reworking the rod wrap? Also, I am interested in building a rod dryer. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I have access to a cabinate shop so we are mainly interested in something we can build there.

Thank you,

Reed Swann

You can try lightly sanding the top surface of the epoxy and then recoating. Then again, what you're looking at could be scuffed marks which sometimes show as white areas. Again, lightly scuffing the epoxy and recoating can do the trick.

There will be plans for a drying attachment in the next issue of RodMaker, out in December. If you'll do a search of this board's archives in the meantime, you can probably uncover some previous discussions on how to do it.
