Pac Bay Guides

I am hoping Tom Brown reads this post. I have a good customer who knows what he wants and he has asked me a question that I need help with. Take a look at the Mudhole Catalog on page 44, Pac Bay Guides and Tops. One Piece Stamped Frame Guides - Model TV.

One the left side of the page two guides LCTVCG (TiCh) and LCTVNG (TiGold) are listed and priced. The heading at the top of this section says - Coated Sic Rings.

Now look to the right at the bullets listing features - the second one says that the guides are available with a choice of Sic, Hiloy and the new TiCH and TiN coated rings. Do the Pac Bay gold ring guides have a Sic ring that is coated? I can find no listing of gold or holo coated Sic guides on any other vendors sites.

There are so many of these things on the market and I am sure that all advertising literature is very hard to keep straight. My customer has taken the position that his rods must have Sic rings with no exception. All of his other rods have titanium frames and he is going to back off this time on them due to price on a multiple rod order used for fresh water fishing.

Are there other colored Sic rings on the market?

Thanks

Gon Fishn

Hi Bill,

Sounds like we have a little confusion here. Let me see if I can straighten it out a bit for you.

Our TiCH, TiN, and new TiBLUE rings are all Zirconia rings that are coated using a PVD process.

Our SiC rings, or Silicon Carbide rings are not coated.

I have not looked at Mud Hole's catalog yet, but it is either a misprint or it is just not real clear. For clarification on the materials that we use on all the different rings we offer check page 16 of our catalog, or go to [www.fishpacbay.com] on the web.

If you need any more information Bill, give me a call at (800) 272-2229. Nice hearing from you.

Thanks Tom - just confusion in the text of the catalog. My customer insisted that he wanted the Pac Bays because the add said they were coated.
