Hello Fellow rod assemblers: I just completed assembling my new Perigee 9' 4/5 wt. 3 piece blank. The wall of the tip section was so thin I was concerned about it's durability. I took the rod to the local park today to cast it for the first time and on the first cast the tip section broke several inches above the ferrule. This is the first blank I have ever had break in 17 years of rod assembly. Has any one else assemblying a rod on the new Perigee blanks had a breakage problem. Also, has anyone used Lamiglas's warranty service. Is it fast or slow, good or bad. Thank you, Lanny Re: Lamiglas Perigee Fly blank

I have 2 of the older 5/6 and a 9 wt Perigee, no problems here. Lamiglas' service and warranty are outstanding and fast, I personally have never broken any of my Lamiglas rods in over 25 years, but many guides I know in Alaska and elsewhere rely heavily on their services. I broke a new Perigee blank last month through a terrible case of clumsiness and bad luck. It rolled off the bench and when I returned, I step on it with both feet. I nearly cried. I did notice the incredibly thin walls, and to be honest I was shocked to think that I could have stepped on the blank with both feet. I had not felt the first foot go down, there was almost no resistence! I don't think this is a bad thing, as my 5/6 Perigee is a lightweight hig performance machine. The thin walls make the blank incredibly light and responsive. However, I got hold of Todd Vivian and he told me to send it directly to him. It has been about two weeks, and I have not received the blank back, but I suspect it will be soon. I thought Todd gave great service, promptly responding to me. And he did not tease or embarrass me any further, which was appreciated! Re: Lamiglas Perigee Fly blank

Had a 2/3 wt blow up about 6" above the ferrule during a forward cast. It had only been fished 10 or 12 times, even though it was built a few years back. It sounded like a .22 going off. It was heartbreaking because I wanted another Perigee with the fast action and, at the time, they weren't yet available. A replacement tip section took about 4 weeks after the rod was sent in. Had a 9 6wt explode on the first trip. Broke right in front of the ferrule on the tip section. This was a two piece model. Only took about 4 or 5 weeks to get a new section. It broke in the same place on the second or third time out. I didn't bother with another replacement. Maybe just a bad run or something. I don't know. Re: Lamiglas Perigee Fly blank

I've fished a 9' 3pc. 6/7 wt. hard, and a 3pc. 9/10 occasionally, and I've not had any trouble. I throw giant lead-eyed dishrag streamers on the 6/7, along with a full-sink line, so it's had an extreme workout. That being said, my Perigrees are all from the earlier production runs. My Perigee is rock solid. I built up the 9' 3 pc 4/5 wt a few years ago and have fished the heck out of it. Not problems and great action. It is my favorite rod out of the 27 I have hanging next to my divorce papers. AB Re: Lamiglas Perigee Fly blank

My replacement came today. Took about three weeks, and I would say that is pretty darn good. Todd told me it would have been same day if they had the current production finished. Cannot beat that! A happy customer, Bob Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
