Hey guys, just a question. Is there a market for a small production of bamboo rod blanks? I look around and see a few folks like A.J. Thramer selling ferruled blanks. Do they sell? Could a maker of blanks do ok in this market? Eric Re: bamboo blanks? Is there a market

You can do it if you can find the right combination of market niche and quality. Thramer has established himself over a period of years. I don't think anyone could just start putting these things on the market and expect them to take off. ......................... Re: bamboo blanks? Is there a market

There are plenty of cane blanks on the market but most folks want either a local maker (for local support) or popular makers with fame-name tapers. Many blanks are buggy whips but they are on the market because they yield a fair profit margin to the catalog shops that sell them. That said, if a maker has a decent taper with nice finishing, and can keep the price competative, the orders will stack up fast. I'd be glad to see what you have to offer. Please contact me if you wish to talk bamboo. Thank you. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
