any suggestions on how to slice cork rings about 1/8" thick for trim and such? tried drilling a hole in wood and cutting with hack saw blade laid flat along wood. too messy! not a clean enough cut. also, do cork rings dye (color) well? if so, any special dye that i should use? thanks for any help. A hack saw blade is way too rough. Try a jewler's saw or fine blade hobby saw in a hobby miter box. I think you can dye cork rings slighlty. I have never tried it personally though. Re: cork rings

Chuck, Russ Gooding at Goldenwitch (see sponsors to left) has a neat little jig for cutting cork rings. I've had good luck cutting them with a bandsaw. Might try that. Harry Boyd www.canerods.com Re: cork rings

I cut cork rings the same way I cut rings out of custom grip II. i put them on a mandrel ( it is easier if you glue 2 or 3 together) and put it on my rod lathe and cut the size you want. I use a box cutter to slice the rings off. Very neat and quick. I just bought some cork rings from Merrick , the superfine ones they were the best cork rings that I've seen in awhile.
