It took a few rods but I'm hooked. Time to make the plunge and buy a wrapper/dryer. Any recommendations? anything to stay away from? I'm leaning towards the pac-bay. I saw that someone sold one under there own name using pac-bay parts, the two were identical but the "no name" was cheaper. Of course I can't remember where I saw it. I appreciate any opinions or suggestions.

Pac Bay Rodsmith is for sure a good unit. You might also want to check out a couple of ideas from Flex Coat. look at their website

I have a Pac Bay unit but am getting ready to move up to the Renzetti. I have never really been satisfied with the Pac Bay unit but I build about 5 or 6 rods per month and really something that allows me to do more and for more heavy duty use. Unless I decide to keep the old unit as a spare maybe we could work out a sale. The thing is not bad, but more for the occassional hobbiest I think than the guy who is making rods on a continual basis.

build your self a shelf at comfortable height so u can sit and wrap get the flex coat gm18 finish motor also get the hw1 hand rod wraper the shelf should have a 1/2" groove routed in it so u can apply 1/2x1/2 dowel rods a light switch and plug in a double gang box works as an off/on switch and you will be able to have it beside you while working .... as far as a dryer build a seperate box how big depends on how many rods u will try and epoxy but you will love it after u build it >>>> dust free>>>>

I'm wrapping by hand now w/ something that I threw together. it works o.k. but it's a little cumbersome. I don't think anything I put together will be as nice as a prodction wrapper.
