2nd Coat of LS Supreme

I used "D" thread to wrap my guides as I normally do.I just like the look of it better.I applied one coat of finish and wish to apply one more thin coat to provide a smoother finish. Is about 18 hours between coats (74 degrees) adequate drying time? Also is there a need to scuff the finish before recoating?
PS: Mr.Kirkman I just received your book from Jann's Netcraft. The Rodbuilding Guide is a very good read. Thanks for it and this very informative website.Joel

As long as the first coat is no longer very tacky you can go ahead with the second. Overnight is usually fine. Go ahead and welcome to a great hobby!

With LS Supreme I always apply the first coat and rotate 2 1/2 hours.
At that point mix another batch and apply the second coat. I Then start the four hour time clock. After the four hour period I take the rod off of the dryer and your finished. Saves a lot of time and it has no effect on the cure. I have been doing this for many years with no ill effects. You can apply as many coats as necessary to get the job done in one day.

Good luck,

Bruce Young

I 2nd what Bruce Young is doing, one coat followed by a 2nd. I wait 18-24 hours between coats mainly due to how I work and my schedule - the last thing I do every eve is I apply finish. You dont need to scuff unless the finish is fully cured. I dont even bother with bubbles on the first coat - its too thin. Immediately after the 2nd coat I use a propane torch to flame the finish - no bubble problems....
