Has anyone ever attempted to use a clear return address (.75" x 1.5")label laser printed in a light color for a rod? I was going to attempt using such a label laser printed in yellow for a rod that I was building. If anyone has any tips or suggestions, please let me know.

I read a post a couple of days ago about someone's dissatisfaction with a sponsor with initials "MH." I realize as a hobby rodbuilder that some of us wish we could receive orders the same day and that frustrations are bound to occur before delivery. I just want to compliment the fine sponsors of this site. I build an average of 5 rods per month and I try to patronize the various spon

For those of you who did not notice, both the Lamar Reel Seats link and the Decal Connection link are now active. Visit them when you can. The link for BC Distributing will be active within a day or two. ...........

3 new sponsors will be joining the Rodbuilding.org board in the next week. Lamar Reel Seats is a small operation specializing in custom reel seat inserts and designs. More on that later. B.C.Distributing is a major reseller of many blank and component products. Decal Connection is already known to many of you as specialists in making high quality decals of your choice for use on fishing rods.

I'm wondering if one of you have some pointers or tricks for transfering decals from the decal paper to the rod blank. I've done two - one was ok (except for a corner that got turned over), but the other one came off in the warm water and no way could I get it from the glass of water onto the blank. It tore clean in half. Does anyone have a fool-proof method for working with decals? Thanks.

1087. Labels
I am trying to print labels for my rods on my computer. I cannot find a good label material to print on. I have tried clear avery labels, but they are not clear when I put them on the rod. They look milky because they are not clear. I am also having trouble finding a color that shows well. My printer will not print white. Can you offer any suggestions? Bill Doolen Woodland Park, CO

I'm at a point where I'm starting to get some rods out and would like a more profesional logo on my rods. You guys that have been doing this for a while, what sort of name or logo do you use? Is it a good or bad thing to have your name on the rod? Phone number? What about a simple logo with no name. I've got a general idea about what I want but I don't want to limit the future with a poorly thoug

I've read all the history on this board about labels and am still confused. It seems everyone has an oppinion on how to do it themselves. If i go to a local print shop(my mother-in-laws best friend owns) what do i need to ask for. What should i get? What type of paper or film and brand of ink? Jim Reed

Many thanks to John Britt for turning me on to the Decal Connection. I received my first shipment of Jim Ellis' decals yesterday for a rod I'm building for a friend. I designed them using Microsoft Word 2000 and a variety of fonts for that "special" look. All I can say is WOW!!! These decals are awesome and so is Jim's customer service. He kept in constant contact during the process, in

I've seen a lot of posts and suggestions about using waterslide paper for decals. I'm ready to go for it, but my local hobby store doesn't carry it. On the Web there are a hundred different brands. Will someone please point me to a website where I can buy the best waterslide paper out there for rod labels?

I'm an amateur rod builder. In the past I've only built rods for myself. Now a friend has asked me to build a rod for him. I would like to find someone who makes custom labels for rods, preferably Gold on Clear. I want to put the information on his rod, but my handwriting is horrible, not to mention the problems I've had finding a suitable writing instrument. I don't want to put an ugly white lab
