I recently built 2 Seeker @#$%& 706 as striper rods. Love them. Cannot believe how light they are for such a big blank. This was my first introduction to S glass. I notice that Seeker also makes a freshwater spinning rod out of S glass/ Boron. The SP 703, line rated for 4,6,10lb. I know Seeker is known for their saltwater rods but I'm definately a big fan of that company. Tom, do you know much ab

Just from my online research, I've narrowed it down to the St Croix SC3570MF and the Lamiglass CS84ML. The Lamiglass looks like a better value. Still looking for input. Thanks

Brotherinlaw says he would like a 7 ft, one piece spinning rod for smallmouth fishing in PA. He uses 6 lb test. I know he throws a lot of Rapalas and the salted tube jigs. Primarily he fishes small rivers. This is my other, neglected BIL so I want to hook him up for he never has asked me for anything but another beer....Thanks men!

One more thing, by "downlocking" what exactly are you refering to? Adjuster ring to butt end or reveresed?

Hey Chuck, I like the Cobra finish NPS. Once again, this site has come through for me. Which one did you chose, the regular or Cobra? Did you refit with # 16? Thanks again guys!

I've never made a swelled insert or insert of anykind. I'm sure I could learn. I was looking for something ready-made. May have to consult with Mr Les. Thanks!

Hey fella's, got a freshwater bass/spin rod project in the works here and I want to know whats the best ergomic spinning reel seat out there today, size 16? I want more than just a straight tube this time, something that fills the hand and will be more comfortable. All graphite would be fine. I'm open to anything. Thanks

Less weight is obtained I take it by using smaller, lower profile single foot guides? Just more of them, spacing defined by the blank?

Does the Fuji Concept guide idea just mean more guides, smaller rings, lower profile guides? Is that the long and short of it? Thanks!

I take it the CLB is soft in the tip and hopefully med action? I would like it to make a 5 lb fish fun.

Can this blank handle 20lb stripers? Live bait?

Well, I glue each individual ring to the blank, put it in the vise etc. I turn the whole blank to shape.

Been using Rod Bond for this but am unhappy with the lines that are sometimes visable between the rings. What do you guys recommend I use that I can have confidence in ? Preferably a readily available product form the shelves of Lowes or something... Thanks!

Dan, ditch the flex coat. For years I used flex coat and know exactly what you are talking about. I switched to U 40 and ultimately to Threadmaster, problem over!

Hey Steve, you've missed some good fishin' this year. Pulled a 33 out of old Lake Allatoona this spring. These reel seats are very nice. Both are these are for my brother in law in PA to be used for smallmouth fishing. You quit that regular job yet? Why don't you just order one for a spinning rod #16-17 and see how it is received? My guess is that with all the deer hunters down here that they'll

Ditto on the patience Andy. I must have drove him a little nuts asking him so much about the properties of his wood, antler and harware. To the man's credit, he followed through on all of them. He's an "old breed" for sure and a pleasure to do business with.

Just recently received two custom made reel seats from Mr Les made from deer antler. Having never encountered a custom made reel seat, it was with some trepidationj that I try these. They are outstanding in quality and aesthetics. I highly recommend Les and his products. Cap'n Fred

I used to have this problem. I quit using flex coat and never had it again. Turn milky when wet or humid, be perfectly clear when the sun came out and dried a few hours later.

Want to use white/silver trimar underwrap on a gloss black blank. Do you just tape off area and spray or brush? What kind of paint do you guys use? Thanks.

I recently saw a underwrap of what appeared to be two-tone regular white with metalic silver??? What is it called? Looked cool to me, might do a underwrap with it.

Duane, relax with it. Its no doubt the easiest, smoothest epoxy finish I've ever used. One more thing, maybe the bad cork back in Mr Bullards days were perhaps what contemporary builders would consider gold? All I know is that I've held those old rods down in the basement a million times it seems and wished I could pull the cork off of them and put it on my striper rods.... I forget to mention th

My own historical perspective on cork comes from my own rod building, off and on over the years. All I can say about it is this; back in the late eighties, early nineties, my rod making supplier was Biscayne Rods in Miami I believe or thereabouts. I've got 5 or 6 rods in the basement ( built at different times) I made and don't use anymore for I've become a light tackle guy. These rods are heavy

Hey Tim, look, you won't find a more quality minded individual than myself. I can be harsh and quite profane in condeming produts that fail in either appication or in the field under duress. I'm a professional guide (allatoonastripers.com) that demands performance. Last summer, I purchased 2 new ambassadeur 6500c's from wally world. Had problems with handles, clickers, and gearing.
