Looking to build two soft-bait rods in the 10# to 30# line range, these are going to be used with braid and the guys use stella reels. He doesn't want graphite as he is hard on it and has snapped a few, so any suggestions would be welcome
The Rainshadow RCLB70L looks ok but whatever blank I choose it doesn't need to be a full on casting rod as the fishing will be mostly drifting with a sea ancho

Recently I bought a new Pac Bay wrapper, it's great with 1 oz spools but the Madeira are much longer and don't really fit.
Is it a case of purchasing the older style thread carriage for the 4 oz or other brands or could I just get the @#$%& thread tensioner & attach to the carriage
and has anyone else tried this?

Thanks Timothy
That really makes sense, the closer & higher stripper is logical looking at it that way

I notice a lot of saltwater jigging rods with guys having to hold the blank itself when onto a decent fish. Is there any reason why they just don't have longer foregrips?

Jerry I hope you know how to build jig sticks, my experience with their distributor in New Zealand wasn't what I would call enlightening! They cost between $250 and upwards here ( around $180 US ) So decent money
They won't sell the blanks unless you reallllly know how to build them! I was dumbfounded. I think if you know the dynamics & required action you can build anything!
Admittedly I

Yes that is primarily why I want to use it. The range of colours.
they also come in groups of shades I believe which is handy.

Has anyone had success buying NFC saltwater blanks? I'm in New Zealand and it seems the only ones available
at the moment don't have a SW range except for Bingham Enterprises ( although only saltwater bay...too light for me )
12-30# & up for boating. Unless there is a crossover? We don't do musky fishing here, not even sure what type of fishing this is although seems like its heavier weight

Very nice wraps Jim, well that is interesting they look really bright and clear
I will test without CP also. I use light build finishes on Saltwater rods so there tend to be a few more coats anyway

Thanks
I guess most water based sealants should work? as long as they are transparent.
I have been looking at Art supplies and there are a few Fixatives/sealers to choose from

Thank you Bob
Yes I thought as much. Of course I could get some from the retailers in the US but I just bought some products
and really don't want to just order CP ( It would need to be a decent order to make it worthwhile to ship) also I'm impatient when it comes to starting a new rod
It's my mistake for only ordering NCP

47. Madeira & CP
Do you have to use CP with Madeira thread, or can you super thin epoxy down and re coat a few times before a full finish?
I only ask because I can't get CP here in New Zealand but can get the thread ( crazy but true )
Cheers

Steve
thanks for that, yes I looked at them & yes I can order from them
I'm particularly looking at Lamiglas blanks though (and NFC when I can afford it!)
+ Pacbay - Fuji & Batson - components. I guess if i consolidate a decent order it brings the price down somewhat,
I guess the question is how much does it cost to ship say 20 blanks some finish and various components to NZ?
Maybe

I am looking at starting a rod business here in (Auckland) New Zealand ( I have built a few and have the bug )
I can't buy the blanks I want here or for that matter most of the building components also ( which is crazy given the amount of fisho's here! )
a few tackle shops that sell small amounts of rod building supplies etc, but the only blanks are NZ made Kilwell & Composite Developments
