I need your opinion on jig rod I am planning to build. Im shooting for a jig rod to throw fairly light jigs light, sensitive with a crisp action, but Im stuck between two blanks the Batson RX8+C812 and the St Croix 5C70MF. I was also looking at the SCIV blanks, how far off are the V to the IV? I might be asking too much on the specific blanks, but in general which of the two companies offer the

Phil that is the point I was trying to state on my earlier post, I beleive like fly fishing a heavier tip would assist with loading the rod thus casting a little further. I just wrapped 2 rods today, one with the weight biased further up top and the other further back. Im using them for finesse casting and we'll see which one can cast the ligher jig further. Ill post back when thier field tested.

I usually build with the balance point at the base of the real seat (casting / bass setup) on the tip side and have gotten lucky with feel. I handled one of my older builds and noticed that the weight was way back (light tip) and I tried to cast a shakey head jig and it just didn't feel right for me. I had to load up on the rod to get it to cast farther, where as I had a similar setup with the we

I need your inputs on balancing a rod for performance. What characteristics do you get if you shift the weight towards the top of the rod vs more weight towards the back. Whats your preferance nuetral, weight forward or back?

I have to disagree with the comment that everyone is actively engage in a rod building business and has the luxary of ordering extra parts that is not need immediately. I have to say that shipping charges have become overly rated and it is not helping the bottom line for businesses. Shipping charges and labor is already imbedded in the price of the products and an added bonus is gained through th

Robert that is exactly what I was looking for. I plan to throw light jigs for bass fishing and wanted something that would cast all day. You hit it on the spot with the efficiency rating. I have a produciton SC4 spinning rod which I love, but wasnt sure on how the casting rod would feel. Thanks for the input.

I was thingking about building a Med jigging rod and wanted and feed back if you have handled both rods. I was looking at a 4C70MF St. Croix SCIV blanks and a RX8 XSB822.5-TC, I'm building for sensitivity and easy of casting. I know this is an open question and a blanks feel is defined by the user, but any feedback will help.

What kind of paint can I use for marbling. I was looking at alternatives at the art store and need input if its possbile. Can I use acrylic based paints or even oil based paints to mix with epoxy, or should I just stick with enamel based paints like testors?

I am planning to build a crank bait rod on an Mudhole CB843 blank and need some advice: 1. Where do you position the reel seat in relation to tip weight? do CB rods have a lighter tip weight or heavier? 2. Should I go with micro guides or conventional guides? 3. Should I spiral the guides or makes no difference with a CB rod? 4. Has anyone build a MHX CB blank with micro guides, if so can y
