31. Re: micro guides
I don't use those type blanks but I have 4 rods with 3.5mm micro guides that I use 50 or 65lb braid and have absolutely no problems casting or fighting fish. I wrestled a 6.5 lb bass out of heavy grass and lily pads and had no problems. Don't know how this relates to what you are doing, but the guides will definitely pass 20 to 30lb braid.

If you are having issues with fluro on spinning reels, try this. When you have spooled fresh line on and before you tie on a lure, let your line out behind your boat at idle until you get down to the know and drag it for a minute. Reel it in while still idling. Twist is gone and coils are stretched out. Makes it a totally different product for 5 minutes of maintenance. Used a spool of 8lb in

The ISB 822.5 is a pretty solid choice for drop shot. It is only 6-10 in length but it works very well for that application.

How bite detection or feel is dampened by anything on a rod that is mounted below the reel seat. It seems to me that as the vibration resonates down the rod, if you don't feel it by the ttime it hits the cork, eva, balance device etc, that you are hosed and have missed the bite anyway. All my rods are built where I have a finger in contact with the blank above the reel seat. Never took physics

Totally destroyed the one that came with the blank last night in a fit of stupidity. Sent lamiglas an inquiry and haven't heard back. Anybody have one they want to get rid of, I am happy to pay for it.
Thanks

37. Re: NFC Blanks
That castaway blank is what I use for the Spro type frogs. Also doubles well as a flipping stick. It is a beast and will save you a bundle over the NFC blank.

from personal experience, cb70h is the right blank for traps. The 70mh is pretty stout but the heavy really works, especialy if you have to rip through grass

Actually, micros did win the casting contest. I actually got to hold the casting rod that won it and it was a crankbait blank with all micros on top.

Thanks guys. I thought that would be the case. It clearly starts where the taper changes and is consistant from that point to the top. I had never built on a blank like this before and wanted to make sure before I fired it up.

I purchased a Lamiglas xmg50 blank from Mudhole at the show. The blank is the lp843. When I was looking at it last night, there are visible ribs in the top 8 inches of the blank. Is this normal for that blank? It is almost like it wasn't completely sanded in that part of the blank.
Thanks

42. Re: Expo Tally
Tom,
Thanks for all your efforts with the show. It is rare that an event of that magnitude runs as smoothly as this one did. I can't think of one thing you could have done to improve my experience with the event. Even with some of the minor issues the hotel had, I will come again and stay at the same place just for the convenience factor. I will come next year if you will honor us with doing

Sunday morning we went out to the truck and took all our goodies so we could check out. I leaned my blanks against the wall and helped the guy I was with put his stuff up. Put my stuff in and we went to the show for another 3 hours. Came out and still had 1 blank leaning against the wall next to the truck. This was on the ground floor park right next to the exit. Couldn't believe it was stil

I agree with Steve. Everybody I met I instantly liked. Silvia was awesome and a lot of fun to deal with. Was happy to meet Karen and Bingham, she was a real pleasure to deal with. Still trying to recover from information overload and trying to figure out what I will do with the 6 additional rods I bought that I don't need. Maybe I will open a museum. At some point they ought to all be relic

No hot water either day for me. Breakfast buffet was terrible and service in the bar was pretty slow. However, the diner down the street was stellar and the bud lite in my cooler was ice cold, plentiful, and cheap. The hotel did credit me 10% for my stay after I complained about the hot water and the lack of caffinated coffee in my room. I can deal with most anything but lack of coffee. I w

It is on the rear grip that is attached to the reel seat. There won't be much threat of mud at that postition on the rod.

The shimano cumara has a pretty unique hook keeper. It is a small tube drilled into the bottom of the rear grip. Clean and effective. Now I just need to jack around with one long enough to figure out how to do it.

I received the light in the link for Christmas. Awesome product. has weighted base where you can floor or table mount it and it has a clamp option as well.

Are 10' rods legal in bass tournaments. I know they aren't in B.A.S.S sanctioned tournaments

Would a standard fly fishing setup work with a 2-4lb leader attached to the fly line?
