I posted a similar question a month or two ago. I am amazed that this information is not readily available. I contacted a number of manufactures and was told the info is not available from them. One of the retailers offered to make the measurements for me. I didn't take him up on his offer I simply made all the measurements on my own.
Good Luck

Had a similar problem to work out a few years ago. Went to the hardware store looking for some ideas and came up with a great solution. I found two steal brackets that are used to hold a broom or whatever to the wall. They are roughly "U" shaped with about a 1-1/4" gap. I took two of them, one inside the other rotated 90 degrees. Drilled a whole through them and ran a mounting scre

In reply to Tom K., the hardener is setting up into a rubbery paste (crystalizing?) way to thick to pour or extract with a syringe.

Like many of you I use Flex Coat High/Lite build epoxy for finnishing my wraps. Lately I have been having a problem with the bottles setting up on me. I do drill a hole in caps of the bottles and mount the syringes in them. Last night I went to grab a new bottle of hardener (black) and it had also begun to set up.
Am I doing something wrong? Does the epoxy need to be stored in some manner? I w

I have a project comming up that will require painting a blank. I have done some experimenting with various paints and have decided to use Krylon Fussion. I am happy with the finish of the Fussion but it is apparent I will need to put some type of top coat over it both to protect it and to add some luster. Anybody have any thoughts on what I should use?
Thanks as always.

Hey,
Has anybody tried the granulated cork blocks? Seems to me the answer to our cork problems will ultimately be found with this type of modified and/or engineered product. While I love natural cork there are just to many issues with it.

37. Guide Sizes
Hey,
I've been working with guide placement and guide sizing for some time. I have read all the articles and tried many of the methods and suggestions I've been given, generally with good results. However I am confused by something. When I go to buy guides they are almost universally described by ring diameter. However ring diameter is only one measurement of the guide and not necessarly the

38. UV inhibitors
Hi,
My daughter has asked me to make a rod for her. Of course the colors scheme involves pinks & purples. After doing a bit of research I have decided not to try and paint and/or color the blank but to work up the colors in the wrappings. I just picked up some flourescent thread and then it occured to me that they will be very susceptible to fading. Has anybody had any experience adding a

39. Tip Tops
I am having a problem with Tip Tops of all things. I am not getting a good adhesion between the Tip Top and the blank. I'm not sure if I am applying to much or to little Tip Top cement or if maybe I am not preparing the blank or the inside of the Tip Top properly. After allowing the cement to set for 24 hours I am still able to move it or pull it off with only a small amout of pressure. I am g

After spending the winter building a few rods I have now been asked to try and repair one for a friend. Does anybody have any suggestions on the best way to remove the old guides other than just trying to cut & slice them off? How about cleaning/restoring the blank before wrapping the new guides?
Thanks as always

I have built a number of rods this past winter using St. Croix blanks. They are great but they are also a little boring. I'm looking for some blanks with some color. Anybody have an idea where they might be found and/or a method for for re-finishing.
Thanks

42. Re: Hate CP?
I have had some proplems with CP as I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago. From the responses I got from that post I assume my inexperience is the major culprit, that and the fact that I may be the idiot that proves the rule. At any rate, I have never received any instruction on the proper method to prepare and apply the product. I use it mostly on open cross wraps and apply it like I would epoxy

43. Color Preserver
Hi All,
I read quite a bit about the problems people have applying epoxy. Seams strange to me but I have very little problem with it. However CP is a completely different matter. I have no end of problems when I use it. Bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles. I have wasted more wrapping time with CP than I care to think about. Does anybody have any suggestion on the proper way to apply it.
Thank

44. Cork Handles
Hi All,
I have finished up a bout 6 or 8 rods this winter and am very happy with the results. Thanks for all the help I have recieved on this forum.
I have noticed on a number of the St Croix cork rod handles as well as others I have seen in catalogs and/or stores they have a decorative piece of cork like material on the butt end of the handle. It is darker, grainier and seems a little hard

47. Spiral Wraps
I have been doing a lot of experimenting with spiral wraps recently and am very please with the results I have been getting but I have a continual problem with my tie-offs. This is a continuation of a problem I have had with guide wraps as well. When I look at pictures in Rod Maker or on this site I see examples of many multi colored wraps that that appear to have bands that are only a few thread
