I have had zero issues with TM Lite. Mix in 2ml batches in a graduated cup with a popsicle stick. Now I do not know how long it takes to fully cure, but the rod spins for approx. 10 hours before I take it off. After that the rod sits in a vertical rod rack for at least another 24 hours. Perfect color, clarity and hardness.
Not to be rude, but take a look at your procedures, there has to b

Aye, there is a 3 piece 7'6" popping blank, available from a sponsor on "liquidation" Lamiglas LGC-IMP9033. Same blank as my favorite but a 3 piece. I think it is $90 though...

To quote Ted a few posts up, "I'd say for UL flats fishing, you'd probably be looking at 7'6" to about 8' tops for light popper work. Simply because it's a more active method requiring more rod work, due to whiting liking a popper being moved at a good clip, while being jerked to pop and splash water." Scott,
Don't worry about anything special, a single wrap with no underwrap is fine. I also fish from a kayak down here in Florida and have zero problems with this technique on my rods. I just use 2 coats of Thread Master Lite and go fishing.
P.S. Even my buddies who build tarpon rods (fish over 100lbs) don't use an underwrap or double wrap.

I have built a few rods for the same purpose. Both 7'6", one on a Lamiglas LP903 XMG (on "liquidation") and one on a International Lamiglas LP903, which is very reasonably priced ~$40. You can't go wrong with them.
Also, I use a 7" rear grip & 2" fore grip. But I fish from a kayak and need a shorter rear grip.

Chris, take a look at a few of the sponsors to the left. I know Anglers Workshop & Fishsticks4U have them. (I visit these sites often and in no way affiliated).

I purchased a grizzly hobby lathe, which works great for cork. Buuuuut, I got the itch to do some wood turning and it doesn't handle it very well, so a new lathe was in order. The model I picked up was a Jet 1014i. Like Lynn said though, another $200 was spent on tools (gouge/skew/etc. and a chuck).
With the grizzly, Andy's (Lamar Fishing) mandrel is amazing and even better with a true
