31. simple binding
I noticed a similar guide wrap about 6 months ago & liked it very much. I've now use it on two of my last four rods.
I like this wrap for it's simplicity, particularly if the rod already has a decorative butt wrap, I also like to include the main butt wrap colour in the guide binding.
The rod is a samurai NV7 6-8kg, will go with a shimano bait runner, to be used for float line f

they don't grow to the size of spanish mackerel, 3-5kg is an average size.
Great fun to catch by casting metal slugs/lures into a school.
Rod used for this fish is my shakespear ugly (rod build number 7)with about 8kg line.
Also a good table fish.

This is my seventh butt wrap, happy with the colours although I am still mainly using 'C' thread until my skill level improves.

37. new favourite
decided to rebuild an old rod. I've been doing cross wraps for over twelve months now & becoming confident enough to try expanding on an old favourite the 'fish' pattern.

One of my favourite fish, usually caught towing dead or live baits. I favour a 10-15kg fast tapering rod 6' .

bit late posting an opinion on how to resolve a common problem, try WD40 if you gt it over there, let it soak over night, if that does not work, next try pouring hot water over the ferrule then try and pull apart, this will quite often work and does not impact on any metal components.

I wouldn't be without Visual Wrap on 8 axis wraps. I admire anyone who achieves multi axis patterns without it.
However, I still like to draw up a template & work out the layout points on graph paper. I was originally taught this by Pete (volvo).
And YES, I've been emailed the information re tools & finishing methods. This is a big help.
cheers roz:)

Hi All,
I've recently posted some photos of a cross wrap "scales green" in thread art.
I've received some great responses and support which is truely appreciated!!! One helpful reply was posted by James Labanowski (thankyou James), it suggested "rolling the threads", as this will achieve a smoother finish by helping to remove the small gaps.

44. Re: Thread size
IMO unless it's a very light weight rod, I would be using 'C'. A lot easier to handle, if one is new to binding guides etc. Just practice a little first, you WILL get the hang of it........ it can be frustrating in the beginning.
Maintaining even thread tension is important & you will pick that up in no time at all. To achieve a good smooth finish it also pays to find yourself a 'packing
