We carry all of the Sevier rod blanks for those of you who are not wholesale buyers. I also use them in many of the rods I build and have had great success with the blanks. They are quality blanks with a budget price tag and a great look. I have had a number of clients tell me they perform as well as the high dollar rods and they love the "Tiger Eye" color.
I have used them for s

They can make one or one hundred with pretty much anything you want on them. Service is great and the options are subject to your imagination.
Call them, you'll be pleased.

I use a lot of wood grips on my 8 to 9 foot fly rods. I think they look better than cork, they don't really add that much weight and my customers love them. I get lots of comments about the exotic woods, the colors and the feel of the wood handles from customers.

274. Re: PVC rod case cap
They also have female screw on caps with an adapter for the PVC tubing. Works pretty well and looks/works better than the male plugs.
I should have a somewhat different type of tube in stock in the next couple of weeks. I'm trying to borrow an idea from another industry and adapt it to rodbuilding. Light weight and not too expensive. I'll post an annoncement when they come in.

275. Spiral wrap convert
I recently finished a new spiral wrap rod I built for me to fish for steelhead this fall. It is built on a 9 foot , 7wt fly rod blank with woven graphite handles and I used the Bumper system from the last Rodmaker magazine. My hope was to create a sensitive rod with enough backbone to handle the steelhead here in Idaho.
I took it to a local tournament fishing for Rainbows on Saturday and I

I have built both and have had good results with both. I sell the Tiger Eyes now so that is what I most familiar with these days. The four piece rods in all weights produce nice rods. Like the previous poster, I am partial to the lighter weights for small streams, but have built the heavy weights for steelhead and salmon.

Butt caps, small fighting butts, arbors, lures, padding for the end of your rod tube and pretty much anything else. Champagne corks, after they dry out and swell up some, are typically larger in diameter.

Clean the ferrules good with solvents or polish as described above and stay away from oils, including skin oils from the side of your nose. I know...my Dad told me to use the nose oil as a lubricant too when I was a kid (this was the only oil we could afford back then), but it attracts dirt and causes the sticky problem.
If you must try some sort of lubricant, rub the male end of the ferrule

Mike,
I've done quite a few of these refinish jobs and made my share of mistakes along the way. Send me a email and I'll do what I can to help.

I have a client who wants a 2wt fly rod in 7 or 7.5 length. I stock 2wt in 6 foot only and I'm looking for suggestions for other manufacturers blanks. Anyone have any good experiences to share?
Thanks,

Strip it and rewrap the guides, then refinish. The black/white thread is available as a twist from several of the vendors. It often looks yellow/black just from the varnish thast covers it and old age . Refinish by dipping for a fantastic result using a good spar varnish or urethane spar varnish. A word to the wise, do this out in the garage or workshop even if the stairwell does make a great

Derek,
We have the 10' two piece Tiger Eye fly rod blanks in 7/8 or 8/9 weight. With an extension one of these should work. The action will be more of a med-fast. I just built one of these for myself as a steelhead rod and it works well.

The spliced rods have tapered overlapping joints that are wrapped with thread/string or tape when you assemble the rod for fishing. I have seen and tried a few and they work just fine. Kind of makes the rod feel more like a single shaft when properly assembled. The overlap can be several inches to preserve the rod taper and assure a good fit. Splicing was the way longer rods were assembled be

Ken,
I use a 2 foot long dowel that is 1-1/4 inch thick. Put it inside the tube and shake to knock the bottom cap off. Then cut the tube and put the cap back on with a rubber hammer. Pretty much the same thing as the bolt idea above. Most of the tube end caps are simply pressed on and will come off fairly easily.
