For my first hundred or so composite grips I was being pretty hard headed and stubborn about shouldering, inserting, tucking.... to get the finishes I thought I wanted. Wasted a lot of time and effort. In some cases I still like to tuck in the front of some foregrips but as Tom's been saying all along, I'm finding that in most cases you can just taper the ends to butt or slightly insert into mos

I ordered several of these as soon as Karry let me know that they were available. Built out three of them immediately. I'll give them a better review when I get a moment but for now let me tell you these sticks are AWESOME. Super light, super sensitive, very powerful. And they are beautiful taboot.

Hey Tom, I just received my full line of jigging specific blanks. Lightweight, slim profile, parabolic. Some of the top Charter Captains of NC helped me fine tune my choices and my prototypes are being used from Morehead City to Southport on a wide variety of species with great success. My website is real close to being completed but you can click on the Riley Rods link from the sponsor list on t

As a Charter Captain and Rodbuilder in NC this is promising news. Done correctly this would be one very powerful PAC. Politics and lobbying are exactly my cup of tea but its the game and if you don't even play your odds are 0% of accomplishing anything.

I'll be rolling out my line of Jigging blanks in a few weeks. Extemely slim profile, fully parabolic and plenty of power. There are pics of a few I built on the approval blanks in my Gallery. The Red Spiral got a Thresher over 300lbs boat side and the knot broke on the 268gram Flatside jig solid ring. The Shorty's have landed many 100lb class AJ's and pulled some BIG Snowy Grouper from several hu

They may be marketed as bass blanks but I've converted three Pro Redfish teams to RX8+'s and there has been no looking back. Unbelievably light and sensitive with plenty of control for bigger fish. I literally just caught a 7+ lb Red on a RX8+822.5 throwing a 1/16oz PowerLoc and a soft jerk bait an hour ago. My go to tournament rod.

I can only speak for myself but I started pouring with much longer lengths and just found to many inconsistencies. Like turning a real nice piece and then oops an air pocket. Trash that one. Also I just couldn't come up with an easy way to get the cores out of longer molds. Broke a serious bead trying a bunch of different ways too. Maybe someone else has figured out a better way. And t

I'm real happy with the cores I'm producing now and have pretty much narrowed it down to two molds to cover all my needs. 12 1/2" long (fits perfectly on Lamar mandrels) by 1 1/4 diam. and 1 3/4 diam. I use 23ml each part for the 1 1/4" and 32ml each for the 1 3/4". Which works out darn close (within 1ml) doing the math too. For smaller molds Scott Parsons is right on abo

I think I've got a pretty good method that has been working out pretty well. Leave enough extra sleeving (tacky with West epoxy) to tuck back inside, I've been using a spatula. Use a piece of wooden dowel as close to your ream size as possible,. cut a pinky finger off a nitrile glove, pull tight on dowel, tape, push in to pull the sleeving tight. After the the shrink tube part, you sho

Looking for suggestions. Have been getting requests for Carpenter/Smith type rods, specifically OH55XH-S/AMJ-S52EX. Very stong short moderate action spinning blanks (parabolic is how they get advertised). Thanks

I was the proud recipient of your fine ' Award-Winning Laser Fishing Rod'. Thank you very much. Funny, my wife and I caught a good part of one of the Star Wars movies after we checked in on Friday evening. When Tom broke out the rod at the reception she knew I was going to win it. Wylie, I'll email you with some ? Mike
