I read the article by Tom but am confused..
Being a beginner I understand the Concept here but don't have a lot of "parts" specifically guides laying around to attempt this. Is there any "rules of thumb" I can use to determine a fairly accurate guide size and count for a spinning rod I am building? I realize the best way is as Tom stated " Don't preselect" the guide

Bert,
I started to do 2 coats on bottom... Only did one. I am doing 1 on top then epoxy.
We'll see how it goes... Still would like ot know if I should thin the CP or not? Did you?
I'd also like to know about wiping off the extra. I had no extra and the threads soaked it up very quick.
I had never used CP before so I don't know how it should act. I read a post where someone said to let it dr

When I put CP on the bottom layer of a tiger wrap recently it seemed to get soaked up fairly quick. I did not thin the CP( Should I )
I also did not wipe off any excess as I didn't really see any... Should one wipe it off? I'd be afraid to wipe over it as things would stick to it until it is no longer tacky
The wrap looked good but with the CP on it felt pretty much like it did before I put th

I am at the same stage of a Tiger wrap as Bert....
When I put CP on the bottom layer it seemed to get soaked up fairly quick. I did not thin the CP( Should I )
The wrap looked good but with the CP on it felt pretty much like it did before I put the CP on. Is this normal?
I could see the layer of CP when I put it on but once it soaked in and dried was pretty much unseen.
Suggestions?

I do have a chart, but feel the static method would server me better. I was using the info from the chart as a starting place assuming that the static method would likey put a guide close to as far down the blank. Perhaps I am wrong in that assumption?
I know in the article in the Library you state you sho

I do like it at 20"-24" for a 2 hand cast.. I'm just concerned about the closeness of the reel seat to the first guide with putting the Reel seat at about 20" to center. I think 18" is to close to the first guide and wanted some other options/opinions :)
Thanks for the suggestion!

OK! I searched around and found lots of good reads on EVA.
I did not however find anything that made suggestions as to the placement or size/length of EVA Grips.
I am building a RS967 Conv. I plan to static place the guides. I was looking at possibly doing a split grip on the bottom but can't make the determination if this is a good idea? Reel Seat is gonna be about 19" from Butt. Lookin
