Not to change the subject but, I think setting up a rodbuilding website would be an interesting topic for a future issue of RodMaker magazine. I know I've already gained a lot of valuable info here; it makes me wonder how much more there is to know. Walt

Dave, Nice looking work there. I'm getting ready to set up my site and I saw a couple things that I'd like to incorporate into mine. As far as comments I'd say I like how colorful your site is, but the blue is a little hard to read (at least on my screen) And I noticed a typo on the info page "you nee a tune up" Good luck with the site, I'm sure it'll be a great success.

Tom, You might want to consider if you haven't already put the finish on the guides since you moved them, to take them back off and permagloss the entire area down to the last wrapped guide then place the guides back on and wrap./ finish. It'll make for a seamless look and IMO it's a lot easier than trying to Permagloss around the guides. Walt

I wanted to make sure I took a minute to applaud Flex Coat and their outstanding customer service. I recently purchased a Flex Coat product thru one of their distributors and had a question about it. Friday morning I went to the Flex Coat website and submitted an email to the addy listed, completely expecting to wait days at a minimum or perhaps never get a response to such a trivial questi

Guys, Last night I was doing some finish sanding on a Black EVA grip (grip is already on the rod) when I discovered a pin hole in it. The hole was not there originally, but it looks like I uncovered it with sanding. It looks like a worm hole in an apple, it's small and I doubt it would ever be noticed by the fellow I'm building it for; but I can't live with it. I'm wondering if any of you h

Below is part of the reply I received from Bob Lee of Pac Bay; this was in response to a problem I've been having with the quad dryer. This may be similar to what you're experiencing. Either way it sounds like Pac Bay has got room for improvement with their chucks. "With regards to the rods falling off issue, upon our investigation, it seems that the angle the rod is resting on the suppor

Billy, Thanks for your post. For the past few months I thought I was the only one that was unhappy with the CP that is now available and I was starting to wonder what I was doing different. I've recently started seeing posts of others that are also concerned about the quality of whats available on the market. What I want is a CP that goes on clear and penetrates right away. The thread shoul

I just forwarded the link for this thread to Bob Lee of Pac Bay, hopefully he'll address the issues that have surfaced regarding their customer service. I know if it were my business I'd want to get to the bottom of why customer inquiries were going unanswered.

Thanks Mike, I couldn't agree more, the phone is the best way to go. The problem I usually have is that my day involves so much phone time for work that I rarely have the time or remember to make calls like this. Again, Thanks!

Thanks Fred, That's the address I used. Ray, I hope it's just a glitch, there's nothing worse to me than being ignored by suppliers when problems arise or not getting a response when you need technical info for a manufacturers product. Maybe someone from Pac Bay visits this site and will see these posts and be able to assist us with our requests. If I don't get a response early next week I'll c

Just curious if any of you have an email address for customer service at Pac Bay. I have used the "contact us" link shown on their website regarding a problem I'm having with one of their products and haven't had a reply. I just resent my original email hoping that the first one was simply overlooked during the Holiday. Thanks, Walt

I'm having a problem uploading a photo, I keep getting the same error message: Error creating thumbnail! Ronnie, Wow, I couldn't have said that any better myself; your experience with this site is like mine. A year ago I hadn't done much more than putting a new tip on a rod, today I've got 4 rods on the dryer, and 2 in the process of being wrapped. I 've been lurking on this site for a while but just recently started posting. I put up a few pictures a week or so ago after feeling pretty good abou

I am very familiar with this product and own a few myself. These are primarily surf rods, but a few of the shorter models are good for boat and pier as well. Here are the specs of the products as I know them. Rod Specs Model# 8’ 1pc Light ¾-2oz 823-1 9’ 1pc Light ¾-2oz 923-1 9’ 1pc Heavy 2-5oz 933-1 10’ 1pc Light 1-3oz 1023-1 10

Emory, I agree completely; he's trying to get a multi purpose rod. I would say if we can take anything out of the equation it would be the trolling part. I expect his trolling would be limited to a small shad body, or shallow running plug. I suppose what I'm really trying to find is something with a little bit of backbone that he can still cast. Thanks, Walt

Blank Recommendation Needed -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a friend that wants me to build a rod that will mainly be used on his 19' bay boat. He wants to use the rod for light trolling, lure casting, and possibly a little bit of bottom bouncing. For the most part he will be striper fishing with it in the Chesapeake Bay. Also, we're
