31. fly line
Attended a local sportsman show on Saturday and a local fly line rep
was giving a fly casting demo. He made the point to move down one line
weight for every ten feet of line beyond the 30 feet. He also recommended
weight forward line and his demo sure proved his point.
It makes "cents" , just wandering if there is a rule of humb to back up his claim?

32. blank order
I planned to build my 10 year old nephew a spinning
rod for his birthday. Emailed a company for prices,
didn’t get a reply in over a week. In the mean time I
ordered the blank and items from another company,
that was three+ months ago. Last month my credit
bill arrived with a charge from the company. Are we
entering a new era of rod building?
Yes, I’m very disappointed, Sta

33. URRS
URRS, just completed a multi piece 8 ft. fly rod.
Using the CCS, 38c/65%, ERN 4.6 (4wt), ACT m/f,
just what the data listed. Headed out to do some
casting when the mailman handed me 10-4, that ended
my testing as I had to give the URRS a try.

John, I have one, Herter’s Waseca Minn. no. 20.
Tom’s right that I believe it was made by Thompson Vise.
I looked it up in my Herter’s 1970 catalog 80R.
This is what it says in the catalog.
This tool holds a spool of rod winding thread under an
even tension, leaving the operator’s hands free to turn
the rod rapidly and put on the windings. The tension

Dave, Tim is right on the mark but would also add, it's a good
idea to do CCS on rods that are labeled. You might say,
"I don't believe this".
Its all in RODMAKER MAGIZINE, thats why I'm a subscriber.

I have built several SC IV rods and like the feel very much.
The catalog's are listing multi pc blanks more and more?
Is this an economics or demand issue?
Have built several multi pc but they come up short on feel,
SESITIVITY??
Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.
Tom, please keep the CC and sensitivity posts coming.

39. fly/spin handle
Just received my 9-4 issue of rodmaker mag.
Great job as always Tom, looking at the photo gallery, woundering
if the fly/spin handles are two rods or did he turn the handle around?
I just made a combo rod with a spin handle and slipped rings
on the back before putting on the butt end, all is working well.
This was suggested per someone on this board, thank you.
Much thank

Brad, was glad to see your post as I had the same problem.
I'm in the process of rewraping the guids.
This learning curve of rod building sure is a lot of fun.
Sorry to be of no help, Stan.
