I disagree.
Keep the two seperate. In that the building was set aside from the fly, I was able to spend my time were I wanted, not around a bunch of "shelf" equipment, but the raw materials that make yer fishing dream come true....
just my 2c worth.

32. Re: Surf Rod Tip
Alot of folks, me included, do not like to use straight braid on a heaver, due to the lack of "Shock absorber", especially if you have a big biter, or that hawg drum in the wash.
The mono serves as a shock absorber to protect the rod ...
My heavers have 16's fer tip's...
JMHO...

Tom, You said "Rod action does not change with the addition or reduction in weight."
Am I wrong in assuming that the while weight has no effect on action, ,,,,
but the use of 2 footed or single footed guides will have an impact on action ?
In my minds eye, the difference between 2 footed gudies and 1 footed is the difference of stiffened area (the foot's attachment to the b

I was recently given a bunch (like 83 bottles worth) of acrylic paints. Can these paints be used with the epoxy ?
Also, I saw a couple of rods on the beach were they had tied 100 lb test in a spiral wrap up and down the butt, then put shrink wrap over that.
I was wondering if you could do the same with marble-epoxy ?
Thanks

I am new to the custom rod scene, having built my first "sorta" custom last summer. I say sorta, because Don had already laid the rod out, and all I had to do was wrap away..(Which was an experience to itself, me being born with 10 thumbs etc,...)
As I look at the blanks offered to the left here, I keep wondering about what you really get. Most folks I have talked to (In this situati

I am having the same problem. I have 2 friends that have built the Loomis P844GL2 and really like it, then I saw the BESP845 from all star and hit the breaks...the all star has a much smaller butt, and weighs less than 2oz, the loomis does not list blank weights,....
because of this, I am planning on building the all star....
Good Luck !!
