I recently saw some wicked grooves on snake guides from a Sage 7 wt. But those grooves would have been caused by either the fly line or the backing. It was a salmon guides rod, and was about 12 years old. The guide sold it to a buddy of mine- he was probably tired of replacing line every few trips.

I will be throwing .35 to 1 oz. of weight (lead, corkie, eggs or shrimp) and will be pairing the rod with a light baitcasting reel (8 oz), and 15 lb tuff line. I am really not

This stuff is tough, but I have used it on non-rod projects and had it turn a creamy white color. Would not recommend it for guides. I plan on trying it on handles though.
