I have two rod blanks that I purchased several years ago. Decided it was time to build myself new rods. Got handles, reelseat, and foregrips glued on and then realized that I was missing a couple guides and had the wrong tip top for one of the blanks. The guides that I had bought were something new that I wanted to try - so I didn't have any spares. I called Lance on Friday afternoon - he was

I am building a Rainshadow XF909-4 fly rod. I am going to use size 6 single foot alconite running guides. I have size 16, 12, 10, and 8 double foot guides. What would be the better choice for the first two stripper guides? 16 - 12 - 6? 16 - 10 - 6? I am having a senior moment. Thanks in advance for your help. Ron Jack

I am building another Batson ISA 1086 F 9' 12~25 lb, 3/4 ~ 11/2 oz salmon rod. Will be using a Shimano Chronark CH 101BSV reel. I have never used micro's but would like to try. Am thinking of using Fuji K series guides - 5.5mm butt - 5mm - and 3.5mm to tip. Would this set up be strong enough for King Salmon? Any and all comments welcome. thank you in advance. Ron Jack

I am building a Batson 1086 salmon rod and have put a King Salmon decal on it and the rod decal. The blank is a dark gray - should I put CP on the decals or not before the finish? Thanks for any input. Ron Jack

Tom, I attended this event last year for the first time and made my plans early for this years show. I was looking forward to meeting Doc Ski and others that I met last year. My flight form Maine was cancelled and the airline was unable to get me there. I had to call the Radison Friday night to cancel my room. I walked around all week-end just sick that I couldn't attend. Wait until next ye

After building fly rods, I decided to try my hand at a spiral wrap salmon rod. The blank is a Rainshadow ISA 1086 F 9' 2 piece. I have a 14" butt grip - Fuji 18 trigger realseat - 4" fore grip. After doing a search of this board, reading and re-reading the Static Guide Placement, reading RodMaker vol 8 - Issue 2, I thought that I had a pretty good handle on this (the key word here is

I have a Grizzly Hobby Wood lathe and am having trouble finding a drill, either electric or cordless, that has a front piece that doesn't turn to go into the holder. The holder has a 43 mm diameter. Does anyone have a suggestion?? Thanks in advance Ron

The first rod that I made was a 9' 2 piece F 1086 G - Loomis IM 6 flyrod. I really enjoyed fishing with this rod until one day (my own stupidy) being in a hurry, instead of properly putting the rod away in its case, I placed it in the back seat of my vehicle. You guessed it - I had to open the back door to get something out and when I closed the door, I shortened the butt section up about 2&quo

Tom doesn't have any copies of the first two issues of volume one. Is there anyone who has a copy of the first two issues that would be willing to lone them to Tom or to copy them (if Tom doesn't mind) and send the copies to tom? It would be great to be able to have volome one on CD for all. Thank you in advance - Ron Jack Bowdoin, Maine

Emory, I am going to Alaska this June to fish for Kings. They recomend 25 lb test line and a 8 or 9' rod. Do you have any recomendations for a rod (to build) and reel set-up. I would like to build a spiral or revolver rod but have never built one. Any suggestions as to blanks, guides, spacing, and reels would be appreciated. Thanks
