Randy I think you are correct. The lack of coverage is very sporadic, like the high spots at the end of the over rap thread, a couple of strange spots in the the middle, and right over the top of the guide foot in a couple of places. Guess I'll just have to double coat it on Tuesday.

I am having a problem. Building a RCLB80M cut down to 7'4", spral wrapped & deckhand grip as a 50lb. jig stick. I under & over wrapped the guides with black NCP thread. I used plenty of CP to seal it up. Put a 1st coat of clear flexcoat over to fill, now I've mixed TAP Plastic blue pigment into my next batch as the base coat (per Randy's video). I would like to replace my #1 40lb rod (CalStar T6465) with a RCLB70 rod.
Which would be the correct one? ML or M? Also, I'm a short guy and need every advantage I can get, so I would like to cut it down to 6'6" . Take it just off the butt? Of course, I will spiral wrap it. Suggestions?

In regards to halibut: I fished Glacier Bay in September and built myself a Seeker CTSF 63XXH (60-100#) that I spiraled wrapped. Used a TLD 20 2-speed reel with Tiburon frame (my yellowtail dropperloop winch reel) and 80# spectra. It worked great. We only kept fish over 50# and under 150#. After the third day we stopped keeping fish altogether. My biggest was about 180# on that rod.
