I have built quite a few 4/5 wt Perigees on blanks that I have purchased within the last two years. They have consistently cast as a 4 or 5 weight and work great with small flies. Where I live, I use a 3/4 most of the time, but I always bring my 4/5 when I fish for bigger fish in larger streams or tailwaters (read San Juan River). Since I began building my own grips, I have been inletting for the reel seat with a Dremel. This is getting to be time-consuming if I want good results. Does anybody have a better method for inletting a completed grip?

Justin, Don't forget about the "complete" action. Too many people think about the action in terms of casting (and long distance casting) at that, but that's not all that we do. I put much more emphasis on short casts, mending, and how the rod feels when I have a fish on. I personally think that the recent emphasis on very high modulus blanks and fast actions is more advertising hy
