Amen, Brother Tom !!
I have to constantly push myself to "do it now" not put it off.
Friend of mine told me life is like a roll of toilet paper -- the closer you get to the end, the faster it rolls around !!

There may be some misunderstanding on what "deflect the rod" means. To my understanding, this means, add enough weight (pennies) to the tip top such that the rod tip is below the level of the rod grip by 1/3 of its length (in the above case, 1/3 of 9 feet or 36" down). If memory serves me correctly, denaturants added to ethanol are very bad tasting compounds that cannot be tolerated by humans (makes them very nauseated, tasts awful or some other reason a person couldn't get it down or keep it down). Very easy loading the 4 weight line, casts farther for me -- and carries a 5 and 6 weight line with aplomb. As for very small streams, I like a 7 foot, 4 to 5 wgt rod because I feel you need the line weight to get in under the bushes and carry to the banks. A 1-3 weight line s

I'm an amateur fly rod builder, have built 4 rods, working on my 5th. The book that speaks to me best that I have run into is
"Fly Rod Building Made Easy: A Complete Step-By-Step Guide to Making a High-Quality Fly Rod on a Budget" by Art Scheck (Paperback - April 2002). Art covers all I've needed so far and provides ways and means of getting into it without jumping to the highly m

Joe: looks to me like you've done everything correctly. Seems like a mis-labeled rod ? Maybe you can use this for schoolie stripers or small bone/redfish.....
