Tony , the black frame guides are good for saltwater use , as well as anything with the X designation . The X means the frames are made of 316 stainless steel which has a lower carbon make up and is better for corrosion resistance .

Flex Coat DL747 . Call me and I will tell you why . With all the surf rods you build you need a power wrapper . This is a great wrapper and will do want you want to do without having to buy extra rail pieces to extend the length .

Walt , before they came out with the 316 stainless , thats all they had . We have built many rods with these guides , mostly surf rods , and have never had a problem .

joel , it is a very good stsrter kit . To me it has two of the most important tools , hand wrapper and dryer . There is nothing in the kit you can not use .

Doug , if you want top of the line the RX8+ is the way to go , but if you want something in a lower price range look at the ISB series , the ISB 802.75 and ISB 822.5 are by far the best sellers in that series for us .
