I have the same issue of noise you are talking about. I've tried leaving a negative feedback to warn others that this is an issue, but my review never gets posted. This was also a Christmas gift from my wife. Thanks for the advice. If lapping doesn't work, I will probably change it out to the motor Roger mentioned. CRB should make it right. Hopefully they are reading.

Seth and Raymond I wonder if this can be used for this since it is sold separate from the hand wrapper from Mudhole. Looks like we could drill a small hole and super glue this in on the thread carriage and add the spring wire. ?

I have a small lathe that I use for turning cork grips and shaping. I keep it out in the separate side of the basement to keep the dust out of my finishing area. My use for a wrapper would be primarily for guide wraps and cross-wrap butt wraps. I have a separate dryer and finishing stand that works for when I am applying finish and drying. I do agree with Roger that I do want the control to slow

I have been using a wooden hand wrapper for the last 8 years. The thread tension is my own homemade device and I have some issues with it. I have to move everything and setup for each guide wrap and cross-wraps are difficult with the handle on , especially if I'm doing a full grip. I am looking into upgrading but not sure about a power wrapper or some kind of newer setup.I mostly do rod repairs,

Thanks Tom.That worked. I knew I needed to let it set but wasn't sure if I could wait that long and still apply another coat. I had been using another brand and from the directions with that brand read to apply second coat within 6-10 hours and that finish I knew would still be tacky. This is the first blank where I needed to apply finish and then apply the blank. The previous builds I was able t

How much time can you wait in between the first coat of finish, then applying the decal and the application of the second coat of finish. I am using ThreadMaster Lite formula, two part resin and hardener.

Thanks Donald for the info. I called Duckett and they are sending me out the guide (free of charge) and also let me know the thread color and from where to order from with the SKU. Good to know for any future repairs. Thanks again to all.

I am replacing a broken reduction guide on a Duckett Ghost rod 7' MH casting for a friend. When I search the web to find what was original on this rod , so to be able to closely match, the web has this as a proprietary 316 SS micro guide set with chrome inserts. Size for this second guide measures to be ring size of 5.5. Height measurement is 7.5 mm. I can't find anything from multiple sites that

David I have built the NFC DS-6107 rod blank in the (Delta) series on a spinning setup. This works perfect for shaky head presentation and I am sure this will work for drop shotting. The X-Fast tip only requires minimal effort to impart the action in the lure and hookset is solid. I often fish in clear reservoir in 20 to 30 feet and feel is everything. The feel and sensitivity on this blank is e

Thanks Norm and Jim. I wasn't sure if I could reduce those down that fast going from 20 to 10 to 5.5. The couple of articles I read from the library and others articles online it did not specify. My setup is to run 10-15# braid and a fluorocarbon leader. If I go with the KB/KT 4.5 running guides, hopefully the line knot will pass through easily. I typically tie an FG knot so it should. Thanks aga

I have moved the reel seat down towards the butt leaving enough for a 9" grip section. This has helped and I can run a KL-20(H) at 18" from the reel tip and a KL-12(H) at 29.25" with the last stripper guide a KL-H7M at 37.25". That makes the spacing 11.25 to 8" to 6.75". This would follow the guide concept outline for this layout. This would leave me equal spacing on

I have a couple of questions on the "Concept" layout for a spinning guide layout for a 6'10" Mag-Lt XF rod for light plastics. Going by the articles based on this, here are my measurements. Spool lip measures 41.3 mm x 27 = 1115 mm.Convert to inch = 43- 57/64 for placement of the choker guide. Choker and running guides will be size 6 @ 8.2 mm in height. With the reel in the reel s

Thanks Matthew.. I looked at the GBS also and what I may do is order one of each since there is not a store anywhere close here in the mountains of WNC that I can walk into to try any of these. The big retail stores only have the standard seats or the skeleton seats which is not my preference. I want to have a variety of different styles onhand when buddies come by and are trying to decide what t

I am looking to build a 6'10" Mag-Lite XF High mod for drop shotting. I have the blank in hand and am adding components to my cart. I am going with a split grip with Winn 2.5 fighting butt and 4" front grip. The last few builds I have used the Fuji TVS and been pleased with the outcome, The feel is good but I have been reading about the Alps MVT Rapid spin and Tex touch hood. Just wanti

NFC has these available from their website to buy direct in only a few models. I went ahead and ordered a 6'10' Mag-Light XF for drop shot. Will post pics when finished. Will let you know feedback I get from testing. Thanks for the video link Norm. I hadn't seen that before.

Anybody have any experience with the NFC Delta series rod blanks. Have someone wanting to try out the drop shot 6107. I think this Delta series is new for 2017. Not positive. Price point is where he needs it.

One minor thing I noticed is something I had trouble with when I started is that after your initial few wraps you were taking the burnishing tool to tighten the gaps, but were tightening toward the smaller taper of the rod. This too will loosen the threads by moving them to a smaller diameter of the blank. I try to burnish towards the larger taper if possible. I also tried the pull loops you are

I have only built 4 builds with the Winn grips and all have been this year. I have concerns also about long term wear. Phil is right about golf clubs take more abuse than a rod. I found Winn grips at the Rod Room without the Wiinn logo that look very good. The listing has that these are for an SK2 reel seat setup, but with the material these are made from allows it to be turned to most factory re

I just finished several tests with different options and found that if I scuff the blank lightly with a scotch-brite extra fine pad before I write on it and the use the wipe-on poly over top of the Testers' enamel, I got the results I was wanting. You are right that the epoxy look is too glossy and thick. The wipe-on poly I use is the clear satin. Hope this helps.

Thanks Fred. Your idea worked great. I used the Chroma-Seal with two coats and then waited 24 hours to apply the Perma-Gloss and got the ideal look I was going for. The Perma-Gloss would smear the enamel ink without the color preserver protecting it. I used Testors enamel ink from a craft store with a quill pen, then the Chroma-Seal ( 2 coats an hour apart) and then the Perma-Gloss. Doesn't have

The finish just fills in and covers the handwriting to the point where I can't feel the raised lettering. I don't understand what the color preserver would do for this issue.

Has anyone used wipe-on polyurethane over top of handwriting on rod. I have seen a video on YouTube where a rod builder used polyurethane over a hand written signature. I am trying to get the look of a raised lettering from the enamel ink I used for signature. The standard finish will completely cover the ink and has not give the look I would like to have in the previous builds. I am wondering if
