Thanks for the input fellas. I went ahead and ordered it to try on a personal rod first and see how it holds up. If I get sufficient use out of that rod this fall I'll let you guys know how it goes. Matthew, I haven't had any issues with cork or EVA and these baits I was just looking for something to set the build apart a little bit without turning some EVA grips. IMO if it holds up it shou

Hey guys, I tried the search function here with no luck. I am considering putting the Winn overwrap tape on an upcoming build and was just curious how it has held up for anyone with experience using it. This build will be for throwing Pounder sized Bulldawgs and Husky Medussas. These are really large baits and get used well into December. The torque put on the grips from casting and the rip/

Jeremy is spot on. It's all preference for me, I prefer a longer but. I want the butt of the rod tucked between my side and my bicep. This could differ on where your customer typically holds a rod. Some guys palm reels, some guys use pistol grips etc. When I build for myself or friends I pick up a rod dry fitted with grips and a reel seat and fine tune it from there to preference. I usually

The Tackle Industries blanks are pretty nice if you buy the 5 pack you can get the $65 a piece free shipping. James is a good guy, email him or shoot him a message on Facebook if you want to mix and match powers on the blanks and he'll make it happen. I've built several rods on the Rodgeeks Muskie blanks, they are fantastic. A little more $$ but in my experience nothing in muskie fishing is in

David your hook has probably fallen out already if it was hooked in the jaw area and not deep hooked. We cut hooks all of the time if a fish rolls in the net or is hooked where it is easier to cut then remove. In order to get the fish back in the water faster. Someone did a study a while back about the time it took muskie to shake a hook or lure and it really wasn't long. The ones that remain

Sorry to hear you broke your build David. That's rough. I'm an Ohio muskie guy, there are some tanks in Milton. I know this all happened ridiculously fast but if you ever get into that situation again try and engage the free spool. We even have to do it occassionally on boat side strikes with rods that are built to handle those fish. I hope your next build turns out better then the last.

I've only messaged them twice. It did take a day or two to respond but they did get back to me and answered every question I had. I've always had good customer service with them in the short time I've been doing this.

Rodgeeks has custom painted reel seats. Hopefully someone can chime in on the winding checks.

Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to build a rod for my girlfriend. It's a RG C2MF66. 6'6" Spinning. Butt diameter is .503. I was planning on ordering now since the free shipping promotion runs out Saturday. The issue is the size 18 reel seats are backordered. She has fairly small hands. Can I get away with a size 17 reel seat on this build or should I opt for the size 20. I'd like

Thanks for the responses guys. I am going to play around with some colors and see if I could use the white as a complimentary color rather than the main color of the guide wrap.

Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to do my second build. It's a 2 tone Rodgeeks muskie series blank. The two tone is 50/50 gloss white butt and metallic copper top. I bought NOCP White Fuji thread to do my guide wraps and Metallic Copper for trim bands. Do I need to worry about the copper portion of the blank bleeding through the white thread or are there any steps I need to take to prep the
