Are you talking about a undercoat to show through a candy or a clear overcoat? If a clear overcoat I would not recommend lacquer. It tends to yellow and/or crack with age and isnt very durable. A good urethane (2 part ) clear would work great. IMHO, I own a body shop and have been working with finishes of that type for over 30 years. Hope this helps. HAGO! Joe

It is "Glissen Gloss / Prizm Hologram Thread / 5001(Silver)/ 164 yds". Apparently used in fly and streamers tying out west. So it should be able to hold a finish and my guess is that it would not contain silicone. Thanks. HAGO! Joe

Has anyone on here used any of the holographic thread in butt or guide wraps? A friend of mine just came back from out west and saw it in a fly shop and picked me up 8 rolls. 2 each of red, blue, silver and gold. Cool looking prism effect. Strength wise I believe is stronger than an A. Size is slightly smaller than D and seems to be oval or flat. Does it hold up over time? How does it react to to

I was curious if anyone has tried automotive clear coats on guide and butt wraps? Will it work? I have used it on blanks with great success. But never on the wraps. Upper grade auto clears have UV shields in them and I was wondering if this would keep wraps from fading as much or from fading at all. I know they are costly, but I own a collision shop and do high end restorations and customs as w
