Sounds good. Thanks for the help everyone. Will the second coat make the guides stick out a whole lot compared to the others? I guess I don't have much of a choice though.

Just epoxied my guides. On a couple guides, the little fuzzy where I cut the thread after wrapping is sticking up. Dumb move. I know. Can I file it or sand it down and apply another coat when it dries?

I'm not sure. It didn't say on the package or on the tube when I got it. Either way its fine. I'm almost done with my build. Looks really cool, and it definitely is a good material for grips. I barely have to grip it to keep it in my hand.

Yeah, I should have figured not all tubes are the same. I ordered the 10" woven tubing from getbit. Has anybody used these?

Is a woven carbon fiber handle lighter or heavier than a cork handle of the same length?

The rod I'll be building on is a 709HM North Fork Composites. For a 9 power rod, it feels more like a 4 power Loomis before they sold out to Shimano. It has a thick, stiff tip with a moderate fast action. I figured I would space the guides like my TFO 7MH and do some static testing since it feels like it has a moderate fast action only with a much softer tip. As far as a spiral wrap, I'm still on

I considered a spiral wrap, but it is kind of odd looking. Could I utilize less guides? How many would I use?

Im doing a build on a 7MH, and was wondering if the rule of "one guide for every foot of rod length" applies to micro guides as well. I'll be using one double footed 7, then a single footed 6, then 5's the rest of the way.

Hello. I'm new to the forum and rod building all together. I've got my first blank coming in the mail hopefully this week, and I'm excited to get started. Either way, I've been told Matagi is pretty easy to deal with as far as purchasing from them. Is there any other companies like Matagi with a wide array of unique components?
