You might take a look at the size of reel you intend to use, and consider a 16 -12 for your first two guides. A 12 seems a bit small for a 7wt switch.
I use recoil snakes on my switch rods, and AT Titan ringlocks for the stripper guides. The Fuji's should be good. I like the extra security of the ring lock guides. The recoil stripping guides are a bit noisy, but at least you don't hav

Coming to this a bit late, but I've got to second (or third) what Terje and Phil have stated. I have two fly rods with gimbal butts, and for the few times I've needed the gimbal and belt, I wouldn't have traded that setup for anything. You feel beat-up enough after a fight with these kinds of fish; having a bruised, abraded mid-section is one ache you can avoid by using that combo. Doesn't mat

I have a MH, build only fly rods, and have not used it. I've tried, but the foot on the guide has not fit any reel seat I've yet installed. I did grind the feet down a bit, but still too big. I'm concerned that much more grinding could lead to some misalignment of the feet to the seat once I've ground enough material away to get the feet to seat.
Bit of a dud for users of small reel seats.

Did you try calling, leaving a message? He got back to me pretty quick last month, ordered some supplies and grips mid-Nov and got them before Christmas. Sounded like he'd been busy, and all grips are now

thanks for all the suggestions, and Michal, thanks for the in-depth report.
I would prefer to build with blanks from manufacturers I have prior experience with, and will check out John P's suggestions.
One question: how easy is it to get CTS blanks? Any issues or major delays getting them into the states?
thanks.

Seems to be a lot of 10' light line rods on the market, but not many blanks.
Any suggestions?
