I believe 3M makes a plumbers tape that has no adhesives, it only sticks to itself. Stretches nicely so the reel is secure. One piece on each foot and then cover with grip tape and it's good for the summer.

Glenn, Thanks for your comments. I was concerned that the divot at the top to expose the blank might be uncomfortable. This might make the cut on a saltwater rod.

While I need to buy one of these just to appreciate the machining, has anyone used one long enough to comment on how comfortable they are? To help everyone understand, a tennessee handle has been my favorite for 20+ years.

Most of my reels are 1000 series or C2000 size. I start with a KL-H 16, drop to a KL-H 6M, 13 inches up and transistion to a L 4 rather than a KB belly guide, 7 inches up. Finish my running guides with more L 4 guides. Distance from the reel to the first stripper guide is determined by how long your handle preference is. My handles are short, so 16-17 inches to first stripper guide. On 78

From a customer perspective and depending on your outlook, a customer that built rods for 30+ years, I want someone that inspires confidence. If I don't think you can do the job as least as well as I could, why would I waste my time and money. If you have an attitude, can't spend the time and most importantly, refuse to listen, we are not a good match. Hopefully, one or both of us will see th

While I have not taken the time to measure, the new Fuji TVS and the old NPS may have some upward tilt built in.

If you went to the link to Plat, the video shows 170 lb PE line and 220 lb mono leaders being used. Depending on the length of your leader, 16 rings might be nice for knots that size. The LC guides are desined for long distance casting with PE lines and their tendency to do odd things around guides and tip tops.

38. Re: CCS
Based on the new CCS database, fly rod blanks are the focus. I am sure everyone appreciates the efforts and commttment to putting all the numbers together in one place but where are the numbers for other blanks?

39. CCS
I just did a search on this forum and there are 61 pages with a reference to common cents. I know what it is and how to use it but I seem to recall another system that was more focused on blanks, other than fly rod blanks. Also, what happened to the data on CCS. The link on the left is more of a white paper on the subject but by now, I would think there would be a huge number of blanks that have

Has anyone tried putting more rings on a Fuji HPS lock nut? I know that 4 will fit but there is more bit shank that a 5th ring might be supported by with a good glue up.

Herb, I should have mentioned that it is more of a young man's game. Us old guys just sit in canoes and catch smallmouth bass and eat blueberry pie.

Catching big offshore fish on fly is more about the water you are fishing. 400 pound Duskys are easy when you find them on the flats, all they can do is run. 400 pound Makos can have 2,000 feet below them and they will use it all. Lifting big fish in deep water is different than simply fighting big fish in normal situations. Fly rods are typically casting instruments. In Nova Scotia, you

Stella, Vanquish, Symetre, Stradic. These are all the latest models as compared to older versions. Many spools are also getting larger. Older 1000/2000 series reels had spool ODs of 40 mm, now 43mm. 2500/3000 were 45mm, now 46.5. Again, not a bad thing but it makes me wonder if there was some intent for these changes.

Has anyone else noticed that Shimano has changed the reel angle across all product lines to a much more shallow angle? Choke points are moving out as much as 20 inches. Not a bad thing but interesting.

Any time frames when this reel seat will be available? Any idea the difference between the TVSTS and TVSTK? Thanks.
