I have a Rainshadow Immortal blank on hand IMMS610 M XF I am considering cutting it down to use for skipping docks with up to 1/2 oz baits. Other than buying a task specific Shooter blank do you see any problems with this idea? Thinking of cutting 4-6 inches off of the butt. Only reason for doing this is because I already have this blank on hand. Thanks in advance, Rick Elrod

I would like to report that I just spoke with Geoff at Batson Enterprises and he went well above and beyond my expectations to make things right. I wish more companies backed they're product in this manner. I will certainly be building many more rods on Batson Enterprises blanks and would encourage any one else considering their products to be confident that if you should ever need support the

I recently built 2 spinning rods on these blanks. One is the IMMP70L and the other the IMMS610MXF. On a recent kayaking trip on my local river I caught the IMMP70L on my backcast snapping it at the rodholder between the split grips. My fault but I felt that it broke very easily. It was an easy repair, given the location, so the repair was made and it is back in service. (also on this rod the fi

Ben, I just completed a similar build. This is a part of my "thoughts" on the build from my post. Rod number two was built on the rainshadow immortal Blank IMMP7OL. It is 7 feet with moderate fast tip geared for light spinning apps on 4-10 pound line. I used the mudhole SGK-4 split handle kit which utilizes a American tackle Aero Seat in cork. Again the KR Concept was used with th

I went through the search process but it just makes my head spin. I'm in the process of assembling parts for a Rainshadow Revelation crankbait blank and I want to try the Winn Grips. It seems there has been much talk about fitment with particular reel seats. I like an exposed seat with split grips. I am not partial to any particular seat as I simply have not had any experience with them at this p

Lance and Dave, Thanks for the replies and advice. Moving forward I will check out the Alconite guides. I was unaware that they are lighter. I do love the gunsmoke look with my first 2 builds. One is red/silver and the other is blue/silver. My third build is already in the works. It is another Rainshadow Immortal spinning blank IMMS610MXF and I have already purchased the same components as i

Specs Rod number one was built on a Hi modulus MHX blank. It is the SB812 that I built primarily for spinner bait and or Jerkbait fishing. I used carbon fiber split grips and Fuji KR Concept Guide train with stainless Gunsmoke frames and S I C inserts. There are 10 guides plus the tiptop . I used dimpled aluminum checks for aesthetics. Is it perfect? No. But it looks mighty fine overall. Backya

I am building my 2nd build on a Rainshadow Immortal IMMP70L spinning blank using the Fuji KR Concept with KL-H16, KL-H8, KL-M5.5, 2 KB belly guides in 4.5, 2 KT runners in 4.5 and a LG tip in 4.5 for a total of 7 guides plus the tip top. I cant decide if I need another KT running guide? During the static load test the line does not follow the contour of the rod through the top third of the rod. I

I just completed my first build using the Fuji KR Concept micro guides. I too used the Flexcoat video and guide foot adhesive method with a couple of locking wraps. I struggled as I have "meaty" hands. Most times I would get them close but have to warm them up again for final placement. A small pair of needle nose pliers are your friend. The rod turned out well! I am using whatever came in the original Mudhole kit. Based on above comments I believe that I am done. (sans decal which was not sent with blank) I will post a pic this evening. Overall I am happy with first attempt. Thanks, Rick Elrod

I am finishing up my first build, a 6'9 casting rod with the KR concept guides. I applied the Pro Kote epoxy yesterday and am wondering if there is a need for a second coat. I wonder because I notice that one of my store bought rods of the same set up (Abu Villan) and size has a much "larger" build up of epoxy used from the factory. Thoughts please? Thanks, Rick Elrod

Thomas, I throw weightless wacky rigged 5 inch Senkos, drop shot, shakey head........If I had to pick 1 technique it would be the weightless Senko. Would you mind giving me 2 recommendations? One for open water and one for skipping docks. Maybe with the NFC sale I can build both Regards, Rick

Mudhole has their Elite Pro High Mod. EPS86lf on sale for $68.21 NFC has 50-70% off of second rod after full price purchase of first. I am not cheap but am practical. I like to consider myself a "best bang for the buck" guy. I am new to the building hobby, I fish as often as I can. I want to build a finesse spin rod. Reel will be Stradic ci4 3000. Line typically 8# floro. I will be usi
