Hi Cory I have found the easist way of attempting this,and not all attempts work ,is to hold the reel fitting immersed in a pan of boiling water until something gives,normally the old epoxy,then try to pull the fitting away from the blank. one word of warning. Hi Don I have both a factory #6 TCR and have built a custom of the same rod using recoils.Personally i didnt find any great performance advantage,not in the distance the line cast or in the line speed,however the rod did feel a tad crisper in the action (custom rod).I did however use the factory rod as a guide for ring spacings and feel that if i had followed the static guide placement the

Dropped a little bit of a clanger in that having received my new RX8+ blank from FishSticks4U .I got out my stash of cork rings to build the handle only to find that they are a tad too large in internal diameter,would it be okay to use masking tape bushings to take up the room or would it be best to buy some more cork to ream to the right diameter. Hi All just thought i would put my tuppence into the melting pot. When i put my fitting together with rod bond,rather than mask the area i dont want the rod bond on with tape threads and the wood barrel etc. I smear a light coating of vaseline over the externals being very carefull not to get any where i want the two surfaces to glue. once all the rod bond has dried you can then wash the

Just starting to prepare my guides for this rod ( one weight Dan Craft )and i am undecided on the size of butt guide/stripping guide.any advice on this would be appreciated . I have a SIC stripping guide in a 12mm which i would like to use .is this correct. Bryan

Just want to ask has anyone had any feedback from using the lightweight single leg rec guides,as i have a problem in a customers rod in that they same to be sticking/vibrating/grating type noise coming from the rings during the retrieve of a fly. Current status ,as far as i am aware is that the evotec,evotec lw,evotec fw, are now discontiued from loop and are soon to be available as a daneilson innovations product, loop do have a few newly designed reels available soon.There was a guy selling the older loops through a leading mags classifieds column quite cheaply recently ,There is as always more to the story of loop versus the supplier

I am currently setting up to build on a Sage SLT blank and would like to copy the sage thread colour as close as possible,any one out there no what colours they use. And i wish to rewhip my old IMX using single leg rings instead of the snakes which are already on,any one help me with the colour of the thread on this rod ,it looks grey/charcoal. I will second the notion on the Ross Evolution reels,however on topic of reels and more importantly reel fittings ,can anyone offer any advice regarding Abel coral camo fittings.I have been thinking about getting a one to fit onto my next flyrod project to match one of my coral camo reels. I have played about with different feathers etc and what i did find that if the colour runs from the feather it is usually because the feather has been dyed to a necessary shade and its this colour which moves,the other thing being that lighter colour feathers such as a silver pheasant feather allows the darkness of the blank through. Regarding the flex coat drill lathe,i got hold of a copy of the flexcoat video and copied mine from there.The rod is held in the chuck via building up a drill bit or similar with masking tape to fit the inside diameter of the blank.I have shaped the round eva buttons for extension handles with mine,however i tried using a lesser quality drill which wasnt fast/powerfull enough and spoilt the fi

If the modulus ratings of the gl3 is that of 43 mil modulus does anyone know what the glx would be( i am lucky to have a few of these to build onto) Any info as to the background of loomis blanks would be apreciated.
