I was reading Flex coat's mixing instructions and came across a NOTE: Flex coat doesn't use any CP on threads that cover guide feet because it won't penetrate the threads for a strong bond.
OK, So how do you keep the natural color of the thread?? I know the effects of no CP on nylon and NCP usually looks like paint.
Is there a better finish product that will penetrate without darkening the nylo

If your talking a J curve as opposed to a c curve in the rod The J will be faster on the cast because primarily the upper 3rd is bending making it a fast rod but more difficult to fight the fish -the C curve is just the opposite ,a little slower on the cast but good for fighting the fish because of the bend going much farther down the rod

OK ,Here 's what I did. I tied a nail knot at the base of the tip tube and blank with 100 lb seine twine (small dia. line). Nail knot won't slip under pressure. I then ran the line through the ring and made a 2 ft hang. Worked perfectly and didn't get in the way of the fishing line on the reel. In all it took close to 10 lbs of weight to get to 90 degrees. Using the method that Tom Kirkman describes for load testing,Does anyone know How much approx. weight will be needed to bend the blank to 90 degrees?
This is assuming that someone has done this before.
My second question : What is the best way to attach the line to the tip top when hanging the weight? Any special knot used that won't damage the tip top or put undue stress on it ?
Thanks

Tom Kirkman was correct- it was main body of thread-3 coats total did it! . I now have the butt wraps looking like glass-no razor blade needed-This is a great site! THANKS TO ALL

Thanks for getting back to me. I think I will do another coat .If it doesn't cover I'll try the blade-Luckily the wrap is on the reel seat end of a 13 ft rod and weight wont't affect anything

I applied 1 coat of finish so far on my butt wraps and after drying I noticed one of the thread wraps sticking up through the finish( I thought I had them packed tight) How do I correct that? I hesitate to use a razor blade. Will more coats eventually cover it ? Also , how many coates of finish can I apply over all if necessary. (flex cote high build)
thanks

I want to load test for guide spacing on a 13ft surf rod 2 pc. would it be advisable to wrap some tape around the tip over butt ferrule to strengthen it before applying any force?

I am building a 2 pc surf rod using x flock for butt and foregrip- In what order should the component parts be placed? should I cut measure and install the shrink tube on the butt section first and install it before putting on the reel seat. Then after the reel seat install the foregrip? Or install the entire length of x flock then cut out the section where the reel seat will be placed?

How many wraps of D thread will flex coat High Build penetrate? I ask because I am building a thread ramp that will need 8 continuous layers of D thread from blank to OD of reel seat.
Thanks
