I love how they always put all the pictures of fish caught! I'm sure none of them would have bit, if it weren't for the "Tru-Flo" guide! I just can't see it making that big of a difference, never know. But then, I rarely wrap with anything other than Micro's now and I said the same thing about them.

Yep, It's a bad batch, tried the test, mixed and went straight to the blank while spinning. It never leveled, clumped exactly where I put it. I will get some more and try it again, love the crystal look of it.

Nope, not 5 min. It is definately finish. Was wondering if heat exposure during shipping could have caused it? This afternoon I tried one more round using 5cc's of each and the mix was very thick just after mixing for 2.5 min. In 4 min. you could touch your finger to it and leave a print without it sticking to your finger tip.

I got a 8 oz combo pack of flexcoat finish. First time I have used it, but wanted to try it out. I mixed it well (2 to 3 min) and then let it set for 2 min. Went to pour it onto a platter and the measuring cup almost burnt my fingers. Was very hot and the Flexcoat was already hard on top. Thinking I had messed up on my measurment, I tried again with the same results. Any ideas? Lee

I am having a hard time with getting a good smooth finish on my micro's. Especially on the back side of the guide. I have tries a couple of different scapula's and still can't seem to get what I'm looking for. My biggest problem is getting some finish in the small area behind the guide. Even a part of a drop seems to get on the guide itself. I am using a 3 wind locking wrap on the post itsel

I have found washing my hands with alcohol prior to wrapping takes care of all the problems I had.

I built one once for a friend, he had the blank and reel seat, wanted micros and a split grip. The rod broke on his third trip out, close to the tip so I'm sure it was used as a punching stick to get a jig or something loose from wood or rock. He called me up and was raising 10 kinds of cane. I told him, HE bought the rod, NOT me and I would 100% back up the guides, checks, thread, real seat

Tape is cheap! I have done this before, twice! Once ending up with a re-wrap, the 2nd one turned out great! I took some regular paper and wrapped the wrap, then taped the ends down with 5 or 6 wraps. Had no problems, after that. JMHO Lee

I know this being your first, you really want to get it done and get it done NOW! Been there, done that!! My thought is leave it alone, 70 degree room and let her spin. Hurrying a "custom" job is not the way to go. It will be great and you will definately smile when you get up in the morning!! JMHO Lee

I always use CP on any wrap that is more than one layer. Haven't had a problem since I started that process.

I start mine at 22 unless the buyer is using a round reel, then I go out to 25". JMHO Lee

I would think it has been pruned, A lot of manufactures order 7' rods and then cut them down, so I would think the rod makers would do the same. Saves money when running batches. Not sure, but that's my though. I HATE they got out of the blank business!!!!! Lee

I also have been using the Baston's for a while! I like the pre grinding they do! Ready to install when you open the package! As well as I have yet to have a problem with one that wasn't man made. And only a couple of them. I've got a lot of rods out there, all of them have Baston guides on them. I, like a lot of people used fugi for a while. Changed over when I fished them once. Haven't

Thanks Todd!! Why the difference? I would think if it's great when fighting a big fish with a worm/jig it would work just as well with crank baits. What is the reasoning behind wrapping on top for the cranks? Thanks Again, Lee

Thanks Guys! Good info! Is there any spacing differences, as compared to traditional? I only use Micro's BTW After searching correctly, I have found plenty to read LOL. Thanks again! I do still wonder with Micros will there be a spacing change?

Being new to the rod building,(I've been building for around a year) I have heard a lot about spiral wrapping. My question is, what exactly is spiral wrapping, better to wrap to the left, to the right?? I'm kinda lost on the subject. Done a search here and didn't find much. Is there really a need for this? I use mainly casting rigs and have always fished with all eyes straight, never sp

I'm new here also, but I use a different technique. I put my pull string in about 8 to 10 wraps prior to finish. Once I get those wraps on, then I pull the pull string until it meets the last wrap and tightens up. This is when I cut the thread, About 1/16th of an inch out from the bundle, pull it on through and it's hid every time. Just make sure that you have enough line to make it through 4
