Currently in the process of designing my own weaving jig. This particular design will have interchangable foam inserts to hold different numbers of threads. The outrigger will help hold the thread parallel to the blank.

I was thinking of a good graduation gift for my son when I thought of building him a rod with his school's initials and colors. I'm new to weaving, and I have trouble with keeping the threads in a straight line....any tips?

I'm planning on marbling the open area of a split handle rod but before I do I want to put a weave on it then marble around the weave to frame it in. From what I've seen so far about marbling, the rod is usually painted a bright color or a light colored finish is used. My plan is to do the weave in white with black wrap and do the marbling using white with different shades of gray. Since this

Hello all, Is there any location guidlines for surf rod reel seats, or can they be placed where they feel comfortable to the caster? I'm building a surf rod (10' spinning) for my brother and he is quite shorter than me, I noticed that where the seat feels good for me my brother feels that it is too cumbersome for him. Ray Hasiak

Just answered my own question. I was milling around the house and found some double sided tape with the brand name "Manco" on it. I tested it out and it held the Madeira thread perfectly. Thanks for your replys

What is a good brand of tape to use when working with Madeira thread? The masking tape that I am using doesn't hold the thread too well when setting up for a weave.

Hello all, I have been asked by a friend to re-finish an old bamboo boat rod of his, but I am having trouble locating replacement parts. From what little information I can gather, the rod it is a: " -------G HARBOR -------B-- BOAT ROD", built by ONEIDA TACKLE (the sticker is a little bit hard to make out). The only hardware on it is a broken tip guide and no other guides at all, jus

Thanks gentlemen, my next question is how do I go about tinting the finish? I really don't want to give the rod owner the rod back without somewhat matching the color. Ray

Thanks for your reply Mike. I thought the same thing but when I wrapped the guide and put a coat of flexcoat on it I thought that it would blend the color of the thread with the blank and make it match. But it did not.

Recently I was given a rod which has a damaged guide and ferrule wrap. After removing the damaged wraps, I noticed that the thread color was an aqua color but on the finished side the color appears to be a greenish/aqua. My question is: Is it just old age which yellowed the finish, or is it possible that the finish was somehow tinted?
