I just did same mistake. You should always dry fit everything. Your supplier had no clue what reel you were going to use.
Thanks Dave

Als. stuff is designed for Silks. I have been useing it for 5 years on silks and it's the only stuff I have found to work good on silks and useing varnish on wraps. I have not tried useing regular finishes on silks after useing Als stuff.

Just go buy a Helmans in a spray can a lot of people get good results that way. I dip my rods and I use spar on wraps also. You can build a dip tube for about 10.00 and just thin 60/40 40 mineral spirits. Then just pul out in one steady motion and let hang in cabinet. When you pull out just blow on each guide to blow varnish out. Been useing this method for about 10 years. But I think for wall

3M makes a safe stripper. Go to your local hardware store. If the varnish is dried and crack up I use a dull knife and scrape the varnish off. Just wear eye protection.

Just drill it out a little at a time. Wrap a cold water soaked rag around the main portion of rod. You need to keep it cool while your drilling out the spigot. I have repaired a bunch of these. Then you need some ferrule material, you can call Lamiglas and they will send you some. Remeber keep everything cool while drilling..
THanks Dave

I have the same problem and have tried every tric in the book. I use Distilled water and have let rod sit for a few says and then apply finish and they get cloudy on me also. But not all the time. Sometimes it may take a few days after I apply the finish before it gets cloudy. I actually have had better luck applying the decals on a matte blank.
Thanks Dave

Thats what i meant Andy just dont say no names Big Business can wipe out a small business . Lawyer fees alone can wipe out a small business..
Also almost all cork is given a bath in powder to hide the small pits. This has been done for years to cork.

I think if you could get adhesive as thin as the St.Croix Decals or Gloomis decals they are the best. I have yet to find adhesive that thin. I make my own decals and I mostly use waterslide but the paper is so inconsistent that some times they ghost. What I mean ghost they are cloudy.. i have tried every trick in the book but I havent tried useing different finish on guides. I made a bunch of de
