I second the CRB kits. I like using the fuji alconite guides on my personal rods. Enjoy the addiction :)

I think this is a St. Croix blank?
If someone could tell me I would appreciate it. And possibly who may have one in stock.
Blank: PS-BB127 7'-8" 8-15# 1/4-1 oz.
Thanks in advance.

I've recently warmed some epoxy, by putting the bottles in warm water. I've noticed the epoxy has a slight grey tint to it when applyed and dryed. Could this be caused by moisture penetrating the bottle when in the warm / hot water? It's very slight. Also, I'm near the end of a spool of Pro-Wrap black thread, it may be a cp issue...? Let me know if anyone has experienced this.
Thanks,
Jeff

I'm going to be doing a repair on a rod and it has aftco single foot roller guides. I'm wondering if there is something special that I need to do to insure I don't get any moisture under the wrap. I'm thinking to just make sure I get good penetration with my first coat of epoxy. I'll take any advise or thoughts on this.
Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks guys..... it didn't have any model number or any writing on it.. Was custom built by someone. Sounds right about the cult following.... the guy seemed very proud of what it was, but still doesn't want to pick it up...lol. I'll deal with it... :)
Thanks again,
Jeff

I have a 10 ft. 1 pc. boron surf rod blank, hoping someone can tell me the appx. value of this blank. I rebuilt the rod for a customer and he refuses to come get it. I plan on selling it for the rewrap/rebuild cost, but wanted to know the appx. value so I have an idea of how hard it will be to get paid for my work.
Thanks,
Jeff

I use all black fuji alconite on my saltwater rods. Never had any problem in the past few years?
You should rince all rods after use.... the saltwater is evil.... :P

Also, the breakage at near the tip may be from the user "high-sticking", holding the rod too high when they have a fish close to the boat or angler. It doesn't have to be a big fish, the high angle and rod properties don't mix well. I've had 2 breakages this year from High-sticking.

YES.... that was what I was going to mention when I read your last post. The tentoin may have changed for "many" reasons. Usually the tention needs to be lessened near the tip when wrapping. Good luck,
Jeff

Like Judd, I think it's mostly a tip issue with todays guides. May want to splurge and get better tip?

I like a shorter front grip also.. You can cut the cork to length you want, epoxy it in place and then sand it down on your power wrapper if you have one. Winding check: you can use any kind of winding check, or mix some epoxy with pigment and let it thicken, then build a ramp to replace a winding check. These work good for me.
Good luck

Reelseat: with the exposed seat, it's Ideal to get the seat exactly the size of the blank, where it'll be. In your case with the seat being too big now, the best option I've found is to install the rear grip, then run a coat of epoxy on out the bare blank, where the seat will sit. Let it dry and dry-fit the seat. If need be, add more coats of epoxy to build up the blank. This is the best way

Very little roller guide experience here. Thanks for any help!
I have a customer who want 4 roller guides on a shark / boat rod. the area between the foregrip and the tip is 49". The blank is stiff, probably a 40-60lb class. Customer will be using a 9/0 reel. What size guides should I use to make sure the first guide is tall enough to clear the foregrip and make a smooth transitio
