I just did one with madera 1842 and 1797 both blues, with royal blue metallic (gudebrod)and black trims. My guides were blue. With the gold ring the gold trim would look good.

Thanks guys, I had just got the Threadmaster in right after doing a rod w/flexcoat. I did the second rod w/ theadmaster and liked it. the first rod could use another coat, so I think I`ll give it a shot. Thanks for all your help, Tom

I looked at those, its hard to tell if they stretch wide enough to hold the 3 inch madeira spools. I looked at the ones Mudhole carries, their large one may work, Thanks

I saw those, it looks like it does the job. I`m looking for the fly tying bobbin shaped like a wisbone. Wide enough to hold the longer spools. Thanks

7. Bobbins
Does anyone know where to get a bobbin that stretches wide enough to hold the 3" madeira spools, or do I have to respool to a smaller spool. I read Billy`s post on the quick way to do that. Just thought I could avoid an extra step. I did a search back to 2003 no help. I think the ceramic insert would be better to keep the fuzzies in check. Thanks for any help with this.

Mark is right on. I grew up in N. Minn. and everyone does pretty much use live bait, I bought a St. Croix I like real well. 3S70MLF 1 or 2 pc. They tend to bite real light and the first 6 to8 inches of this rod has real nice play and then kind of a stiff back bone. So if you have or get something that is like that. I think you would be happy with it. I`ve bought rods that say they are wal

I don`t post very often, because there is so much to learn here and it takes me a long time to read all there is. The biggest thing I learned tonight is if we all had the pride to admit when we are at fault. Would`nt things be alot more pleasant out there? So lets all go fishing. Tom Although I do think this one was a bunch of crap.

I have a auto body repair supply store near me. They carry tape down to 1/8" and even thinner I think. They also carry other things like scotch bright, etc. Just look in the yellow pages under auto body repair.

I too have been one of the fortunate to be able to sit and talk with Doc and see alot of his work when he comes here to San Diego to the various shows we have here. Not once did he ever make me feel like I was taking up his time, in fact he always wanted me to hang around longer to teach me more. I`ve never run across a guy like that. If you have listened and watched the end of his video, what he

Do you guys always use solid carbon or solid glass for blanks or will short regular graphite work? Believe or not I grew up in N. Minn. as a kid, but only used line wrapped on a stick, pop-ups, or speared in a dark house. Thanks Tom

Well said Nacho. I try to spend as much time as I can with Doc when he gets down here to San Diego.I just can`t absorb the knowledge fast enough. I like to keep things as simple as possible and Doc teaches it so you can understand it, that its not rocket science. I just wanted to thank you Doc for the time and wisdom, and thank you Nacho for voicing your appreciation for Doc.

24. Re: More on GUSA
I was in their shop yesterday and they are working hard to get the orders out. Then pack it up and going to Yuma. Like Jim and Doc said hard to make ends meet here. Perfect example is Buck Knives. I wish them the best. They are all good people.

I learned from Doc`s video, spectra works real well. I use 30 or 65#, green or white, no breaks, no color trans. I but a bead or small split shot on it to find it. Thanks again Doc.
