Kirk,
The gold regular thread was not NCP, I wanted the translucent appearance. I was hoping not to use a liquid CP.
Thanks, Gary

I am building my first rod, Sage 596-4SLT. Gold reg. thread for the guides, for the ferrule and butt wrap I wanted to add 2 trims of gold metallic(2 or 3 turns) partway into the wrap. I have been doing alot of practice wrapping in preparation of building my first fly rod. I do not like the results I am getting using nylon thread with CP then my epoxy, sometimes blotchy and inconsistant color. Is NCP thread going to get rid of these problems and then skip the CP process? Any wrapping or finishing differences using NCP vs nylon? I'm sure of the color look and style of trim wraps

Thanks Tom, since this is a four piece rod, I don't quite understand what you mean by "Tip and butt up, belly down." Sorry, I am still pretty novice at all this stuff.
Thanks, Gary.

I am about to build my first rod, after practicing this winter my wraps and finishes, I am ready. It will be a Sage 596-4 SLT. My question is... Do the white dots on the blank sections have any reference to the spine and/or guide location. I can not find any info on the Sage web page, does anyone have any advice for a new builder?
Thanks, Gary Gill.
