thanks guys for all the info, just need to clarify a few things as i live in Australia and purchased the rod from the USA to send it back prior to cutting the tip back would probably cost as much as a new blank. the rod is for myself and the action is still well suited to what i want to do with it, medium heavy, mainly spinning for flathead and barra and maybe some light tackle jigging. Hi Guys i am in the process of building a 6'6" spinning rod of which i have cut the tip back 2.5inches as it had a kink in the blank, and have decided to go with the NGS guide spacing, the reel i am using will be a daiwa sol 2500, which has a diameter of 48mm. when i use the calculation i.e. i get an answer of 1296mm to the choker guide, when i mark this point i have only about a foot lef

Rod i am in the same position but in Aus i have ordered from Mudhole and anglers workshop and found there postage to be quite reasonable, also try ultimaterods here in Aus, they are St Croix distibutors here so they may be a good bet also

hi all i am thinking of building a travel rod, would like an multi piece graphite 4-8 kg med fast 6'6" (Bit like the Nitro rods sold here in Austarlia) does anyone have any ideas what blanks are available and wher i can buy one. thanks keith P.S. Hi Guys i am new to rodbuilding and am just about to start my first build, i have a question about epoxy for Grips and Reel Seat. i have been watching the Steve Petri dvd and noticed that he uses two different typs of Epoxy for mounting the Grip and the Reel Seat, what is the general thinking on this, Steve says that he uses the thinner Epoxy for the grip as it lubricates the inside of the grip
